Assistant Editor - Democracy Lab
Democracy Lab is seeking an assistant editor to edit web content and manage administrative tasks. This is a paid, full-time position that starts in early December 2014. Job Description:
Since Democracy Lab is a two-person team, the assistant editor wears many hats. We are looking for someone who is efficient, flexible, and attentive to detail, and who also has strong editing skills and a mind for numbers. The assistant editor is responsible for:
- Editing, writing, and researching articles and corresponding with writers
- Preparing content for web publication
- Writing and sending the Democracy Lab Weekly Brief
- Managing the Democracy Lab budget and author payments
- Compiling web analytics and data metrics reports
- Running Democracy Lab's Twitter and Facebook accounts
This is an entry-level position with opportunities for publication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (political science, international relations, anthropology, economics, etc.)
- Demonstrated interest in politics, international relations, and/or democracy promotion
- Editing and research experience
- Leadership experience
- Familiarity with social media management and web analytics
