Human Rights Internship - Women's International League for Peace and Freedom

by Unknown  |  at  8:18 AM

Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is looking for an engaged, organised and bright human rights intern.
Would you like to work with women, peace and security issues? Do you want to apply your textbook Human Rights law skills to a real world setting? Do you want to experience the UN Human Rights system and see how the Civil Society interacts with it? Do you want to experience the exciting – and sometimes chaotic – life of working in a grassroots organization with small budgets and big ambitions?
If you have answered YES to the questions above, then we want you to be our Human Rights intern for Spring 2015.
As a member of the dedicated WILPF team, your tasks will be exciting, diverse, and challenging. You will support our Human Rights Programme by taking part in the UN human rights bodies’ sessions and NGO coordination meetings, and will report on those using your academic knowledge, while promoting our work through our international website, newsletter and social media.
You will also prepare articles for our blog, training materials, working documents and other materials on Human Rights for publications, and for internal use.
Your tasks will also include interaction and coordination with our National Sections all over the world, providing them with assistance in their participation in human rights bodies.
We encourage you to apply if you are interested in human rights, and women’s rights and peace issues in particular. The internship is perfect for an energetic, motivated person who wants to discover the world of feminist organisations and activism.
The practical stuff
The full-time internship will begin in January 2015 and will go on until June 2015. The internship is Geneva-based. 20% of your time will be dedicated to administrative support.
Unfortunately, this is an unpaidinternship. However, cheap accommodation solution can be provided upon request.
Requirements:
· Pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Gender studies, or a related field
· Human rights activism or previous experience with civil society organisations or NGOs
· Fluency in English is a requirement; fluency in Spanish and French is an asset.
· Knowledge of online social activism
· Mastered Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
· Experience with Wordpress or other CMS (Content Management Systems) will be an asset.
How to apply:
Deadline: 15th of October 2014 at midnight CET. Send your application (cover letter and CV) tointernship@wilpf.ch. We only receive applications per email.
