Field of activity

GIZ International Services will tender for the project'Support to the National Water Resources Plan (NWRP)' financed by the European Commission.

The overall objective of this project of which this contract will be a part is to support support the Government of Egypt (GoE) continuing the reform programme of the water sector, in accordance with the objectives of the National Water Resource Plan 2005-2017 (NWRP 2005-2017) as well as the Water and Wastewater Sector Development Policy (WWSDP).The related specific objectives are:Updating the existing National Water Resource Plan (2005-2017) and extending it in the framework of the 2050 vision.Developing Regional Water Resource Plans in 6 governorates, representative of the different context in the country (Nile Valley, delta, Fayoum, Sinai, coastal zones).Manage water resources in a sustainable manner.Protect public health and the environment.Maximise the economic activity benefits for all Egyptian people.

Your tasks

The team leader will be a senior professional, responsible for Overall management of the project and coordination with other donor projects and with related projects in Egypt; Setting key benchmarks and targets and providing overall technical and managerial guidance for project staff and work partners; and as a Special advisor to the NWRP Director.

Your profile

Qualifications and skills

• University degree in Project Management and/or Engineering, or a related and relevant field, preferably at Master's level.
• Additional advanced professional qualification is an asset.
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Knowledge of Arabic would be an additional advantage.
• Project management experience
• leading a team of professionals
• is obligatory;General professional experience
• Minimum experience of 15 years in project management and planning approaches and methodologies in different countries (preferably in countries with similar conditions and comparable complicities);
• At least three years' experience in leading a team of technical resources & successful record of team building capacity as to manage a large team of diverse professionals.

Specific professional experience

• At least 10 years documented experience (or 7 years with a PhD degree) in fields related to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) sector reforms such as privatization, pricing, regulation, deregulation, and investment optimization, economic impact assessments, reducing transport costs, cost recovery, costs apportionment, feasibility studies and policy analysis of the water sector.
• Demonstrated experience of working in developing countries and particularly in arid zones in at least one project in the last 10 years (2004 onwards) would be an asset.
• Proven experience in at least one project in the last 10 years (2004 onwards) in water resources planning projects in Egypt would be an asset.

Assignment period

The project will start in January 2015 and duration of project will be 24 months.
