In the frame of a proposal for a Technical Assistance in the field of water and sanitation in Tanzania, we are seeking for an:
ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL EXPERT (M/F)
MISSION
- Execution of the Lender’s and Tanzanian Environmental and Social safeguards;
- Sustainable transfer of know-how on project management concepts, skills, tools and activities Transparency and effectiveness of policy orientation of the budget assured;
- Scoping of operational, financial and institutional assistance.
PROFILE
Qualifications and skills
- Internationally recognised university Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent;
- Fluent command of both written and spoken English;
General Professional Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in formulating policies relating to environmental and social safeguards, including Africa;
- Involvement in the preparation of studies relating to environmental and social impact assessments (including Environmental and Social Management Plans).
Specific Professional Experience
- In-depth knowledge of the guidelines, requirements and procedures of Funding Agencies related to environmental and social safeguards, with particular reference to European Investment Bank, African Development Bank and Agence Francaise de Developpement;
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Environmental and Social Management Plans;
- Implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans in Sub-Sahara Africa;
- Experience as an advisor at different levels of government and as a trainer on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Environmental and Social Management Plans;
- Understanding of national legislation in East African Region relating to environmental and social safeguards for water projects;
- Knowledge of Tanzanian legislation will be an advantage;
- Excellent ability to prepare reports and documents.
