Internal Auditor

Under supervision and guidance of Senior Internal Auditor, the Internal Auditor is responsible for reviewing and assessing internal controls and practices, ensuring that field office operates in compliance with IMC and donor’s procedures. Internal Auditor performs compliance reviews in all locations of the Country Mission to review and evaluate reliability of reporting, compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, and safeguard of assets.
Works with field office and Internal Audit department to ensure systems are in place, inclusive of identifying and analyzing major risks. Reports to Internal Auditor on major risks and areas of concerns noted.
Provides summary of observations, recommendations, and progress on recommendations to IA department on monthly basis.
Works closely with Emergency team leader to follow up on the implementation of audit findings and recommendations raised by IA department or External auditors.
Reviews accounting transactions to ensure allowability of expenses and completeness of supporting documentation with adequate documentation, accuracy of amounts and control over payments.
Reviews grant documents ensuring that provisions are followed. Summarizes requirements and provides suggestions on the actions needed to follow all donor requirements.
Gets familiar with local laws; evaluates compliance of the country mission against local laws and ensures that mission is in compliance.
Provides an opinion on the internal controls and practices in the field office to its supervisor.
Works extensively with partner organizations and sub-grantees (if any) to ensure financial and program activities are performed according to internal and donor policies and procedures.
Develops and implements solutions to reconcile donor compliance requirements with International Medical Corps' programs.
Gets familiar with donor’s financial regulations on a regular basis; making sure that other staff members are aware of changes in the existing regulations and new requirements imposed. Makes presentation of updated donor regulations when necessary.
Actively promotes PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and Anti-Fraud and Anti-Bribery standards within International Medical Corps.
Ad hoc:
Conducts investigations under the Compliance auditor supervision as needed
Other:
Ensures that all material findings are immediately reported to supervisor
Other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive
Qualifications:
Minimum of a college or university degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Experience in the administrative and financial and/or audit management of overseas
Comprehensive knowledge and working experience with USAID, EU, DfID and other donors
Strong writing and presentation skills
