Field of activity
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit International Services (GIZ IS) is a state owned organisation. We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ International Services (IS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.
The MED-ENEC team is offering the position of a key expert:MED-ENEC is a regional project funded by the European Union. It aims to increase the use of Energy Efficiency measures and Renewable Energy systems in buildings in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries. Apart from policy advice and business development, special emphasis is placed on the support of large building programmes as multipliers of climate friendly and cost-saving technologies and measures. The project is located in Cairo (Egypt) and is cooperating with (currently) eight countries in MENA region, closely also cooperating with other institutions (including the League of Arab States). (http://www.med-enec.eu/)The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows:To contribute to the enhanced efficient use of fossil and renewable energy in the building sector through a broad application of energy efficient measures in the MPC.
Your profile
The key expert should have an academic background and at least 5 years experience in the field of EE/RE. He/she should have significant working experience in the energy field related to buildings preferably in some of the MPC but at least in developing countries. The expert should be fluent in English and French; some knowledge in Arabic would be helpful but is not mandatory.
Assignment period
The intended commencement date should be 15th December 2015 and the period of performance of the contract will be 48 months from this date.
Information on place of assignment
Project location will be in Cairo, Egypt. However, an additional representation in another MPC country is highly recommended in order to assure ownership, particularly for the Maghreb region.
