Roles & Responsibilities
To close liaison with the Reconciliations Officer to ensure that outstanding items are queried and resolved promptly. Ensuring a smooth, efficient, immediate flow of the operational processes Ensuring adherence to correct operational procedures and limits
Ensuring adequate controls are in place to avoid potential losses from interest claims, exchange losses and non-deliver of funds. Provide operational support to the Operations Manager. Your specific roles are:
  • The individual will be responsible for the daily operational administration functions in the operations area.
  • In addition this individual will be expected to provide operational support to the Front and Middle office to reduce operational risk and improve operational controls and efficiency in the area.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the processing and settlement of deals. Compliance, Risks and Controls
  • Query items timely to avoid income leakage.
  • Actioning System Reports on daily basis.
  • Maintain records for Banks and Customers limit (both counterparty and Dealing limits
  • Ensure that central bank statutory returns are done on daily basis
  • Ensure that Standard Settlement Instructions (SSI) are in place.
  • Record and maintain working paper for every case for audit trail and Audit purposes
  • Ensure Management Information System(MIS) is accurate and up to date. Customer Service and People
  • Supervise exceptional items and escalate any problematic items to the Back Office Manager
  • To assist other team members in the department as required from time to time.
  • Execute at speed in responding to queries ensuring Service Level Agreements are met/ or exceeded.
  • Train, Coach and develop team members to enhance team work.
  • Performance management and staff appraisal.
  • Be co-operative and flexible at all times
Requirements
  • ACI Accredited
  • Relevant 3 year degree or diploma
  • At least 5 years working experience in the Operations area of a bank
  • Good understanding of all Banking products, in particular Treasury and International products, including an understanding of the Banks Act and Liquid Asset Requirements, and the workings and pricing mechanisms of all these products.
  • Good working knowledge of SWIFT and payments in the operations area.
