Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2016
£43,812 per annum
The International Secretariat (IS) operates from a number of sites around the world, and gathers and communicates accurate and action-oriented human rights information globally.  We campaign for meaningful human rights change, enable effective human rights activism, and work to persuade governments and other actors to uphold universal human rights standards.  We provide strategic leadership, support and advice to the AI movement globally, fostering AI’s contribution, presence and public accountability throughout the world.
About the role:
You will act as a key adviser within the IS on the application and development of policies and practices relating to AI's work with and for individuals, assisting in the provision of training and providing professional support to IS teams and sections. To manage and overview the Relief Programme. Working within a team you will also develop, coordinate, programme and lead on delivery of AI’s global campaigns, and coordinate and deliver campaign work on behalf of individuals at risk, whilst increasing campaign effectiveness across the IS and the AI movement
About you:
You will have extensive experience of human rights research methodology and its application and with great understanding of the principles that must be taken into account when working with and for identified individual victims and those at risk of human rights violations. You will also have good familiarity with advocacy or campaigning on behalf of individuals, and an ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders and managing staff. You will also be flexible enough to adapt your approach as priorities change, and bring us a real flair for innovation and will act as a reliable post within the organisation.
About us:
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they're denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. Whether we're applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we're all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
