To provide direct technical support, UNHCR is looking for candidates with a unique combination of expert technological awareness and design for the Content Management Systems. The individual should possess extensive knowledge of modern system design and development methodologies, internet communication protocols, server operating systems on an administrative level, local area networking topologies, internet web servers (IIS, Apache) and metamorph search engine technology and optimization techniques. He/She must be able to exhibit critical analytical skills and provide guidance to members of the Digital Development team in the area of offline electronic publishing, database design, search technologies, and information structure. The Senior Multimedia Offer will bring forward innovative technological solutions which are used for UNHCR websites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Develop and test scripts to support the implementation of interfaces, search facilities, document templates and quality control of content to be published on the Refworld website (external and internal).
§ Create, develop and maintain backend database architectures in support of the English and French public websites and the internal and external Refworld websites.
§ Provide Refworld technical support to the Status Determination and Protection Information Section.
§ Install, develop, enhance and maintain the databases used on all servers within the DES network; install and maintain the physical network servers, operating systems and web servers used within the network.
§ Undertake analysis of requirements, data analysis and modelling, designing programmatic data flows and interfaces for the DES Content Publishing Systems and associated subsystems.
QUALIFICATIONS
§ University degree in Computer Science (Information Technology, Software Engineering, and related disciplines).
§ Minimum 8 years of previous job experience in Information Technology.
§ High proficiency in server side programming using Thunderstones, Texis RDBMS, SQL and Vortex scripting language (thorough knowledge of REX is indispensable) and clear understanding of data architectures, modelling techniques and system development methodologies. High proficiency in the use of offline publishing tools. Strong technical communication skills and fluency in English.
