Climate change is emerging as a major challenge to Africa’s economic growth, long-term prosperity, as well as the survival of already vulnerable populations. Africa, the continent least responsible for climate change is the hardest hit and the situation is expected to worsen unless far reaching measures are undertaken at all levels of governance to reverse the situation.
Despite these challenges, a number of continental and global initiatives on climate change have been established to provide a unique opportunity to transform climate challenges into development opportunities across Africa. One of such initiatives is the NEPAD Climate Change Fund which has been established by the NEPAD Agency with support from the Government of Germany in 2014. The Climate Change Fund aims at strengthening the resilience and capacity of African countries particularly in the areas of climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation, access and benefit sharing, development and implementation support to National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), mainstreaming of climate change into the National Agricultural Investment Plans (NAIPs).
With the conclusion of the initial phase of project under the Fund, the NEPAD Agency is in the process of documenting the key results and lessons learnt from the implementation of the project.     • Draw out the backward-and-forward linkages on the climate change adaptation and mitigation measures and techniques;
    • How the results could be replicated nationally and regionally;
