Oxfam International is recruiting an Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods Coordinatorfor Southern Africa.
We are primarily inviting applicants from countries within the region. The position will be based in one of the countries in the region: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
Summary of the role:
The Regional EFSVL Coordinator will effectively contribute to the development of regional level capacity and support when needed the country level work to prepare for, and implement, emergency food security and vulnerable livelihoods responses to humanitarian crises in Southern Africa (especially the current El Nino Food Insecurity Crisis). The role will lead on contextual analysis of the regional food security and livelihoods situation, external stakeholder engagement in relevant regional forums, and technical quality assurance. By supporting countries on assessment, market analysis, implementation strategies, and robust monitoring and evaluation of interventions, the post holder will ensure programme impact with a special focus on protecting and building community level resilience. As regional technical lead on EFSVL, the post holder will ensure that regional and country programmes support and align with core humanitarian and technical standards; are market sensitive, relevant and proportionate to humanitarian needs, and demonstrate an awareness of gender, human rights and accountability principles and practices. With the support of the regional Humanitarian Programme Coordinator, the role will also work closely with country EFSVL teams in support of practical capacity building and technical leadership.
The focus of this role will be further informed by the contextual realities in the Southern Africa region and the ongoing El Nino Food Insecurity Crisis will be the critical area of work in the immediate future. In the longer term regional and country strategies and priorities as articulated through the ongoing Oxfam 2020 regional strategic planning processes will outline the evolution of the role focus.
