Pensions Restructuring Manager

Who we're looking for

Do you have experience of advising clients on appropriate actions regarding their pension scheme? Are you keen to work on multiple projects covering both distressed and non-distressed businesses? We are looking for a Manager to join our team.

About the role

About our team: We work with corporates and trustees of defined benefit pension schemes to understand and evaluate the strength of covenant that the sponsoring employer provides to the scheme. We operate across all segments of the market and deliver creative commercial solutions to our clients.

Your duties may include the following:
  • Meeting with senior company management to discuss and understand their business
  • Review of current financial position of business, including its capital structure
  • Analysis of forecast P&L and cash flow information and review of management assumptions
  • Analysis of where value lies in the group, and the access the scheme has to this value through its legal claims
  • Review of the likely return to the scheme in an insolvency scenario
  • Understanding the priority of various classes of creditor
  • Company, sector and market research and analysis
  • Appreciating external perception of the business through the review of credit ratings, analyst and industry reports
  • Consideration of the impact of a transaction on the business and its creditors
  • Identification of possible options to improve the long-term security of the pension scheme
  • Management of other PwC teams we often bring utilise on assignments
  • Preparation of presentations and/or reports to key stakeholders (e.g. management, trustees, banks, PE houses, etc.)
Requirements
  • Academic record to at least degree level
  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • Financial analytical skills with strong commercial awareness
  • Interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders
  • Proven project and time management skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written English
