ABOUT WFP
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies; Building Resilience through Predicatable Safety Nets; Improving Nutrition & Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Smal Holder Farmers to Access Markets. We are currently seeking experienced and creative applicants for the position of Monitoring Assistant to join our team.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Associate, the incumbent will be in charge of monitoring implementation of WFP Programmes in Arua.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Coordinate and Monitor the implementation of the assistance Programme at the local level, in close collaboration with the cooperating partners.
  2. Monitor and review the overall commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution at the site and verify if the amounts received have been properly recorded, damaged or suspected to be damaged.
  3. Supervise the efficient distribution of food items at the site and ensure proper distribution of entitlements and verify appropriate entitlements are distributed and provide feedback to field officers and others on the distribution.
  4. Assist on the conduct of regular meetings of refugee leaders and cooperating partners on the commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant issues.
  5. Assist in the implementation of the plan of action, review achievement and constraints and provide feedback accordingly.
  6. Assist in encouraging women’s access to economic skills development and sensitizing public opinion on gender issues and gender focused activities.
  7. Report periodically to the supervisor on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues.
  8. Identify any apparent issues in the Programme and report them to the appropriate personnel.
  9. Supervise and train other personnel as appropriate.
  10. Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.
  11. Perform other related duties as required.

Applicants should have the ability to interprete and analyze a wide viriety of Programme issues, statistical information, maintain accurate and precise records, work effectively with people of different national and cultural background.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelors' degree in either of the following fields, Development Studies, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Education or other related field from a recognized institution.
  2. At least three years relevant working experience in supporting implementation of humanitarian services, community based activities, food distribution or any other related field gained from a reputable organization.
  3. Good knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications.
  4. Good command of both written and oral English is essential.
