Assignment with WWF Madagascar

WWF has an opening through its Youth Volunteer Internship Programme for 2 volunteer/interns for a 6-month assignment with the WWF Madagascar Mahafaly Plateau Landscape project based in Besambay. The project factsheet and terms of reference will be posted shortly.

Location: WWF Madagascar (based in Besambay)

Assignment dates: 1 February to 1 August 2016

Language required: good level of French

Age Category: 19-27 years

Activités

  • Appuyer l’équipe du projet à l’élaboration des outils de communication de visibilité du Paysage Mahafaly (brochure, factsheet, flyers) simples et claires mais attrayants au niveau national et international (web,sns);
  • Organiser des sessions de sensibilisation et d’éducation interactives (projection de films, radio crochet, concours de chants etc.) pour différents groupes (jeunes et adultes etc.) sur l’importance des récifs : faune, flore, législation, aspect socio-économique (eau et wash);
  • Elaborer différents outils de sensibilisation sur la gestion durable de l’écosystème et de la pêche pour les utilisateurs de ressources : posters et panneaux.

Required qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Background in communications and/or environmental conservation (marine an advantage);
  • Coaching skills in the field of environmental education;
  • Capacity in the design and use of communication tools;
  • Mastering or familiarity with the techniques of shooting photos and video;
  • Motivated to work in remote sites with difficult conditions;
  • Good physical condition with ability to do long distances on foot when necessary;
  • Adhere to WWF’s values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.

  • Empathy towards rural population & capacity for integrating into the local community;
  • Ability to adapt to a changing situation and difficult conditions, e.g. clean water scarcity, no phone connexion, no electricity, walking in rugged or muddy terrain, or in rice fields, etc;
