Junior Fund Analyst

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
LMDF is a self-managed and socially oriented regulated investment fund with the mission to increase financial inclusion in developing countries and contribute to the alleviation of poverty. 
ABOUT THE JOB: 
The Luxembourg Microfinance and Development Fund (LMDF) is offering an Internship as Junior Fund Analyst (4 to 9 months) This position is a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of a social investment fund, including an exposure to investment and monitoring, risk management, distribution, administration and communication processes. The internship is based in Luxembourg City. Travel to developing countries may be required as part of the responsibilities. The starting date is flexible with the earliest possible start date 1 November 2015.
The intern will be joining a small and dynamic team and is expected to have an interest in the Fund’s activities beyond the risk function. LMDF is now looking for an intern who wishes to contribute to the development of the Fund:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Risk management including the Funds exposure to credit risk, country risks, foreign exchange risks, liquidity and operational risks;
  • Monitoring of cash flows;
  • Monitoring of covenants established in the respective agreements with investees;
  • Risk focused review of the due diligence of new investments;
  • Control of service providers;
  • Collaboration in the quarterly valuation of LMDF’s investments;
  • Drafting of risk reports;
  • Communication with shareholders and other stakeholders;
  • Continued development of the risk management tools used by the Fund.
Qualifications:
  • Pursue a university degree, preferably in finance or development related subjects;
  • Interest in microfinance and impact investing as development tools;
  • Fundamental understanding of FX derivatives;
  • Strong command of Excel;
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem solving skills and rigorous attention to detail;
  • Ability to work responsibly in a small team;
  • Fluent in French and English both spoken and written, any other languages would be considered as advantage (Spanish, German, Luxembourgish).
