Country Representative -Liberia

PSI seeks candidates for immediate placement to manage PSI/Liberia’s Ebola response as well as existing roster of projects in WASH and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Strong candidates will have emergency experience and be entrepreneurial, with an interest and/or experience in private sector approaches to development. The Country Representative is based in Monrovia, Liberia and reports to the Deputy Regional Director in Washington, D.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Country Representative will be responsible for the overall management (financial, administrative, and programmatic) and representation of PSI’s activities in Liberia. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Using PSI’s positioning as communications experts to develop and implement Ebola response activities in collaboration with the Government of Liberia, civil society partners, and donors
  • External relations with donor, government, NGO, and commercial entities
  • In-country personnel recruitment, training, and supervision
  • Development and implementation of marketing and communication campaigns and other social marketing activities
  • Creation and monitoring of project workplans
  • Management of program budgets
  • Financial and other reporting as required by donors and PSI/Washington
  • Development and enforcement of field office administrative policies
  • Fundraising for new activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Significant general management experience, with a technical background in public health or marketing, and experience in emergency or post-conflict settings
  • At least five years work experience in developing countries
  • Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, motivate, and build the capacity of staff
  • Knowledge of international development and health issues
  • Familiarity with USAID and the international donor community
  • Fluency in English
The successful candidate will be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have: excellent communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; and proven ability to produce results. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated emergency management experience and those that have experience working in limited-capacity settings.
