Food Security Expert - Ebola Outbreak

Duty Stations: Freetown, Sierra Leone / Monrovia, Liberia / Conakry, Guinea / Dakar, Senegal (according to needs)
As part of the Ebola epidemic outbreak in West Africa, the Food Security Expert under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative and, in collaboration with the FAO network for support to response, will:
· support country-level actions guided by FAO’s country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) and regional response strategy against the Ebola outbreak in order to transform FAO’s knowledge products into country-level results and impacts;
· support the development, design and implementation of a national programme on food security and agriculture in coordination and consultation with national authorities, civil society organizations, and other partners;
· provide technical inputs on food security matters to reinforce FAO and partners actions;
· support the coordination actions of the Food Security Cluster in close liaison with WFP;
· provide technical support to the formulation and backstopping in the implementation of FAO´s Field Programme;
· provide analytical assistance on FAO´s reports, documents, publications and projects related to food security; design and organize field missions, seminars, workshops;
· perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
· Advanced university degree in agricultural, economics, social or political sciences or related field
· Five to Seven years of relevant experience in food security issues and in the design, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian programmes
· Fluent in English or French and working knowledge of the other language.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
· Extent and relevance of knowledge of food security and emergency/rehabilitation issues in complex settings
· Extent of familiarity with the functioning of the Organization and the humanitarian sector
· Excellent communication skills both oral and in writing
· Ability to work in a team and under pressure, to articulate multidisciplinary teams, to coordinate projects and activities,
· and to plan and organize own work and meet deadlinesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relations with senior Government officials, high level political authorities, experts, civil society organizations
