South Technical Director - Cameroon

South Technical Director
Reports to: Technical Supervisor
Location: Littoral Region
Based in the Littoral region of Cameroon and reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the South Technical Director will direct day-to-day project activities in Southern regions and will be responsible for carrying out project work plan activities. S/he will supervise project technical staff, including the South Clinical Supervisor and the Operations Officer. S/he will collaborate closely with senior leadership and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on matters directly related to project management. S/he will also ensure delivery of quality services.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure implementation of site level activities
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent technical activities and trainings
  • Contribute updates, data, and results to technical reports for donor
  • Liaise with government stakeholders, other implementing partners, and local entities at the service delivery level to facilitate active communication with project staff
  • Oversee project and site staff in all program areas
  • Ensure effective implementation of program activities and achievement of goals
  • Support management, planning, and development of the provincial work plan
  • Advise the technical specialists on financial, administrative, and technical management
  • Collaborate with Capacity Building Officer and M&E Manager to ensure program activities are meeting desired outcomes
Required skills, knowledge, and experience:
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Substantial clinical and programmatic experience in HIV and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in successfully coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Good understanding of international development context, experience in international development sector (non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), direct bilateral, multilateral)
  • Ability to implement quality of care assessments and develop and implement clinical tools
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience working with Ministry of Health departments and the Cameroonian health system
  • Doctor of medicine (MD) qualification with PMTCT, pediatric experience, public health, or epidemiology background
  • Master’s degree in public health or other relevant master’s an added advantage
