This is an urgent appeal for accountants who want to help make a positive difference in the world by volunteering overseas. Volunteer abroad as an accountant and help build the financial capacity of our charity partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Many of our partners are charities that simply cannot afford to hire an accountant, it is vital that they maximise the effectiveness of their limited resources. AfID volunteers mentor the local staff and teach them the skills they need in order for the organisation to continue growing long after the volunteer’s placement has ended.
Accounting for International Development (AfID) has worked with over 300 charities, NGOs and social enterprises across 50 countries. We place highly skilled volunteer accountants with organisations ranging from grassroots community initiatives to international institutions, but the goal is always the same; to change lives and improve the quality of those lives.
Our assignments can last anywhere between 2 weeks and 12 months, dependent on your availability and commitment. We tailor our assignments to your needs and abilities, dependent on where you think your work could make the biggest difference and how much time you can spare. Your skills and experience in the financial sector could make the difference for our partner organisations abroad, who often lack access to the professional abilities and desperately need them in order to remain operational. Through a series of capacity building exercises, streamlining and training, you are the difference between the success and failure of our partners.
