We are looking for a highly qualified Logistics Coordinator to work in one of the biggest international NGOs in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Who are we?
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a Danish international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in more than 30 conflict territories around the world assisting displace people with shelter, food, income generating activities, legal aid and a wide range of other protection assistance.
DRC is one of the largest INGOs in CAR, working out of 3 field offices in the North, 3 sub offices and the capital office (Bangui) with a complex funding portfolio. The program strategy for 2015 covers the sectors of Protection, Livelihoods, Legal aid and Emergency Education, IDP profiling and protection monitoring as well as Food Security, Early Recovery and small scale infrastructure including WASH. Interventions are currently located in four Prefectures: Ouham, Ouham Pendé, Bangui and Bamingui-Bangoran.
About the job
Under the supervision of Head of Support, you will be responsible to provide a timely response to our programme’s procurement and logistics needs in accordance with DRC Operations Handbook and Programme Manual as well as to donor requirements. The position requires a sound logistics eye for detail involving local and international procurement, import procedures, liaison with authorities, inventory stock take, vehicle servicing and repairs, compound maintenance and renovation, camp set-ups, communications and security systems, vehicle fleet and fuel monitoring, technical advice for the operations including camp establishment, and reporting. You will have the overall logistic responsibility of the DRC programme implementation in the Central African Republic.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Procurement: Maintain a sustainable and robust Logistic and Procurement plan to ensure efficient and effective support to all DRC Programmes and support services as per DRC and donors guidelines. Including introducing new procurement procedures; developing procurement plan with Project Managers, contribute to, maintain and develop emergency response planning;
- Transport: Implement DRC rules and regulations on Fleet Management and oversee the proper control and operation of the vehicle fleet and any vehicle service agreements entered into; Monitor and supervise the supply chain;
- Assets/storage: Management of all DRC equipment including planning/budgeting, procurement, allocation, tracking, depreciation plan and reporting.
- Communication Management: Supervision of all means of communication ensuring a good communication flow and the enforcement of security procedures.
- Human Resource Management: In charge of the logistics and procurement team, including recruitment and training.
- Others: Ensure maintenance of the office, house, warehouse; Submit monthly logistic report to the coordination team; Contribute to donor proposals, budgets and reports; Represent DRC to bidders, potential suppliers, other NGOs and donors for logistic matters; Provide support to DRC’s security systems.
About you
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Proven experience for a minimum of 4 years in logistics post within internationally recognized non-governmental organization, commercial company or similar entity.
- Proven experience with safety and security
- Written and oral fluency in French language.
- Result oriented individual with ability to deliver good quality work in timely fashion.
- Valid driving license and passport.
- Proficiency in using MS Excel and Word programs, and common computer and communications applications.
- High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills and motivation to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to live and travel in remote areas of central Africa.
- Capacity to live and work in volatile security environments and work under stress.
We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on performance and funding. You must be available to start work as soon as possible. The duty station is Bangui, CAR.
