Call for applications for Junior Consultancy Roster, Education

IBE-UNESCO is looking for qualified junior consultants with a profile of research assistant to constitute a roster. All applications accepted in the roster will be maintained there for a period of two years. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee the offer of consultancy work or constitute an offer of employment. Depending on existing needs and ongoing/planned activities, IBE-UNESCO will select from the roster the most appropriate profile(s) for short-term junior consultancy contracts whose duration might vary from a 6 up to 11 months assignment. Typical responsibilities include the following:
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Compile relevant data
  • Assist with the data analysis and reporting
  • Use computer programs to record and organize data
  • Contribute to the dissemination of results of research activities
  • Contribute ideas relating to the design and implementation of research activities
  • Provide substantive input in the preparation of papers, articles and reports
  • Collaborate with other team members and supervisor
  • In some cases, collaborate in the preparation of grant proposals and related documents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The prospective junior consultants that will apply for enlisting in the IBE-UNESCO roster should be able to demonstrate to following qualifications:
Education: MA or PhD in curriculum, learning, teaching and/or assessment or education policy analysis/development.
Work Experience:Minimum of 1 to 2 years in research activities.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Thorough knowledge and excellent analytical skills in the fields of curriculum, learning, teaching and assessment. Advanced technical competencies in the field of international education would be an asset.
  • Excellent competencies in data gathering, analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent quantitative or qualitative research skills and mixed-methods approaches.
  • Excellent IT skill, particularly MS Word, Excel, knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, Stata, etc.), and other editorial management programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written; capacity to communicate in different formats and in a clear and concise way.
  • High personal motivation, self-management, and accuracy; ability to take responsibility in meeting tight deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
Languages
  • Excellent knowledge of English and another UN official language.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Good understanding of IBE-UNESCO main priorities and strategic vision.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.
BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
Lump sum all inclusive (fees, accommodation) which is not tax free amounting to CHF4’000 per month. In addition, IBE-UNESCO will cover the costs of travel to Geneva and from Geneva to home country (economy class and direct route). IBE will provide an office space, email address and a PC. If the junior consultant has to participate to field missions, IBE-UNESCO will cover travel costs (economy class and direct route) and 75% DSA & TA. The junior consultant has to provide a proof of the health insurance coverage before starting the contract with IBE-UNESCO. Please note that IBE-UNESCO is a non-smoking Organization.
