The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy – BiRD, is currently accepting applications for a Deputy Team Leader / Expert in Family and Inheritance Law as part of a long-term EU-funded project in Kosovo entitled Support to Civil Code – Phase 2.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the standards of the Judiciary sector in Kosovo. The purpose of this contract is to continue EU support to the modernization and harmonisation of the legal framework on civil matters in line with Acquis, European standards and international best practices and support implementation of a new Civil Code. The project will cover the entire territory of Kosovo.
Key expert 2: Deputy Team Leader / Expert in Family and Inheritance Law (estimated 600 days)
Qualifications and skills
· A Bachelor‘s or equivalent degree in Law. A Master and/or PhD in Law is considered as an advantage.
· Excellent drafting skills in English.
· Excellent drafting skills in Albanian.
· Drafting skills in Serbian language considered an advantage.
General professional experience
- Minimum 7 years, preferably 10 years of professional experience as lawyer, legal professional or judge/prosecutor.
Specific professional experience
· Experience (duration of at least 6 months) in working in at least 1 donor funded project or as staff in an international organisation on the reform of family or inheritance law; such experience gained in Kosovo is considered an advantage.
The project office will be located in Pristina, Kosovo.
The intended start date is early 2017 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 36 months from this date.
The experts are expected to work at least 95% of their allocated time in the beneficiary country.
All experts must be independent and free from conflicts of interest in the responsibilities they take on.
