Description:

FHI 360 seeks a Deputy Chief of Party for a USAID Zambia Feed the Future program that aims to reduce stunting in two targeted districts through increased and improved quality of dietary and health conditions for better utilization of nutrients. The program seeks to influence nutritional outcomes through an integrated approach that emphasizes household and community level interventions and social and behavior change mechanisms for maximum saturation and impact. Activities will support increased access to and consumption of nutrient-dense and protein-rich food, optimal infant and young child feeding practices, and access to clean water and appropriate and effective health, family planning and nutrition services.

Job Summary / Responsibilities:

  • Set up and adjust as needed all field-based administrative, financial, procurement, HR and other operational systems and processes, and organize appropriate training and orientation on policies and systems for all field staff at the time of hire and on-going;
  • Oversee all administrative and logistical staff in the field office;
  • Cooperate closely with the Chief of Party (COP) on all administrative matters;
  • Work closely with Home Office administrative (including financial, contracts, HR, etc.), program and operational teams to ensure timely and quality reporting, and lead field team in office/program set-up and close-out processes;
  • Assure that the project is in compliance with USAID and FHI 360 regulations and procedures;
  • Provide direction and guidance to local staff and subcontractor staff on compliance issues, procurement standards/requirements, and other administrative, financial, HR and logistical questions; and
  • Serve as the primary program representative in the absence/temporary leave of the COP.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience on international donor programming, preferably on Feed the Future or similar projects in size and complexity
  • University degree in finance, economics, business, international relations or related field
  • Knowledge of the Zambian agricultural sector and/or nutrition, or similar Feed the Future initiatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID regulations and best practices
  • USAID experience essential
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
