Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration
and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM
is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by
providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Maputo and in coordination with
relevant departments in the Mission and at Headquarters, the incumbent will assist with the
design, liaison and communications for the IOM Mozambique Mission.
SUPERVISION
The Intern will work under the guidance and supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in
Maputo and in coordination with relevant departments in the Office and at the Headquarters, the
incumbent will assist with the design, liaison and communications for the IOM Mozambique
Office.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
  1. Support the production/design of specific contents/materials/tools for programs such as, but not limited to, manuals graphic content, publications, case studies, department briefs, interviews, human interest stories or any other public information content that may be required.
  2. Upgrade, develop and maintain the IOM Mozambique web-platform and its contents.
  3. Assist to produce and maintain the required mission reporting and visibility tools such as, but not limited to, monthly newsletters, situation reports, press briefings notes (PBN), donor reports or any other reports that may be required.
  4. Effectively liaise with the Chief of Mission and departments leads to contribute content to social media, i.e. Facebook and Twitter.
  5. Maintain and update the mission contact lists and media connections.
  6. Support the ongoing projects and activities in the health and migration division such as the implementation of the Pfuneka Project in Moamba and Xai Xai Districts and facilitate key activities related to the “Partnership for Health and Mobility in the Mining Sector”.
  7. Perform any other duties assigned by the CoM.
    Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
  • Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Journalism,Public Relations, Geography, Development or Economics.
    Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably in the information, production, dissemination and management field;
  • Ability to coordinate with local authorities, partners and UN agencies;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds and in stressful conditions;
  • Ability to establish priorities and to plan and coordinate own work;
  • Ability to utilize and operate common software; and
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
    Languages
    Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
