Purpose of the Assignment
The Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) section within Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices to maximise income growth. There are five units within the PSFR section. The purpose of the Corporate Fundraising unit is to drive income growth from the corporate sector as part of an integrated corporate engagement strategy.
UNICEF's Corporate Fundraising team requires an individual contractor to support our global new business efforts to secure new multi-million US$ corporate partnerships. The global new business individual contractor will work under the supervision of the Corporate Alliances Manager (Head of New Business) in Geneva. S/he will also work closely with UNICEF's Communications, Programme Services, the UNICEF Natcom network, and other partners as required.
The individual contractor will be responsible for providing support for a number of new business projects as outlined below.
Assignment Tasks
In close collaboration with the Corporate Alliance Managers in the Global New Business Team, the tasks to be undertaken include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
  • Support the UNICEF network to build propositions and outreach plans for companies, particularly focusing on a select group of global retail and apparel prospects that could be deliver multi-million US$ funding for communities around major supply chains.
  • Support corporate fundraisers with the development of potential partnerships visions and cultivation plans for a select group of global prospects.
  • Support the Corporate Alliance Mangers in building propositions for multi-million prospects: including developing partnership claims that fundraisers can use to inspire prospect's interests in UNICEF.
  • Ensure timely processing of any opportunities in the pipeline
  • Help develop new business capacity building materials for UNICEF's network of corporate fundraisers for UNICEF's annual Corporate Fr annual workshop.
  • Provide support across the Global New Business Team in other tasks as required.
  • Expected Deliverables
  • Develop partnership visions and outreach plans for global prospects
  • Outline recommendations for National Committees and Country Offices of where the greatest funding opportunities exist and support them throughout the process of securing a new partnership.
  • Support provided across the global new business team as required on major pitches and other new business activities.
  • Duration
    The contract will start May 1st 2017 until the 31st August 2017.
    Reporting
    The individual contractor will report to the Corporate Alliances Manger, who will provide overall supervision, direction and guidance.
    Working Conditions
    This assignment is based in Geneva.
    Qualifications of Successful Candidate
  • A University degree
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience in either Corporate Fundraising or Marketing and/or in a corporate managerial role engaging with the non-for-profit sector.
  • Track record of undertaking successful new business outreach, ideally for an international organization.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, specifically to a business audience.
  • Ability to work independently and to meettight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the work of UNICEF's private sector and corporate fundraising techniques would be a strong asset.
  • A knowledge of the CSR issues related to supply chain practices would be an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
