Senior Finance Professional (FP) with Guinean citizenship

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute is a public institution with the mandate to contribute to the improvement of the health of populations internationally and nationally through excellence in research, services, and teaching and training. The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) of the Swiss TPH conducts consultancy, project management, training and applied research work in international and global health. The department is seeking applications for the following new position:

Senior Finance Professional (FP) with Guinean citizenship

URGENT HIRE, START DATE FEBRUARY 2015
  • GUINEAN CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
  • NATIONAL POSITION BASED IN GUINEA
Within our on-going assignment in Guinea (Conakry) from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, the tasks will include:
• Contributions to the conduct of activities related to the appraisal and performance monitoring of health sector development projects;
• Verification of the implementation of health programs with special consideration of aspects relating to financial accounting and financial administration and management.
Professional Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in a financial role, preferably with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience related to:
  • Financial accounting, with the ability to review and analyse accounting transactions;
  • reviewing and negotiating budgets;
  • Financial management systems, with the ability to review and assess internal controls and financial processes and procedures and provide recommendations for improvement;
  • Review of financial statements (including income and expenditure statements, balance sheets and cash reconciliation statements); and
  • Review and interpretation of audit reports.Qualifications
  • Internationally recognised professional finance or accounting qualification – e.g. Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Accountant Certification, Chartered Financial Analyst or Fédération des Experts-Comptables Européens etc.
  • In the absence of a professionally recognised qualification a Graduate Degree/second level degree in Finance/Accounting with appropriate experience would be considered along with other factors;Language Competencies
    Excellent command (speaking and writing) of both English and French is required.
    An initial contract of two years will be offered. An extension is desirable, depending on a performance evaluation.
