Programme Officer, Land and Corruption Programme

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. In collaboration with more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
Main function: The Land Programme Officer coordinates the work flow, financial and administrative monitoring and reporting of the Land and Corruption programme, ensuring that agreed goals, best practice standards, donor obligations and TI-S regulations are met. S/he ensures that systems, procedures and approaches in place are effective, service-oriented and user-friendly, and serve the management of learning and knowledge relevant for the project.

Duration: Two years, with the possibility of extension
Location: TI-Secretariat, Berlin, Germany
Team: Project Management (PM)
Job grade: II
Responsibilities:
  • Execute Project tasks related to donor contractual obligations (financial management, fund transfer requests, procurement regulations, financial reports, etc.) in a professional, transparent, cost-effective and timely manner
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Project specific work plans, budgets, monitoring and reporting cycles and information systems across TI-S and Chapters
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-grants and contracts with Chapters and external service providers (including financial management/results reporting), ensuring to time cost effective delivery of results and activities
  • Contribute to Project related learning and review processes and to ensuring the demonstration of impact
  • Manage Project related event logistics
  • Take responsibility for other tasks to ensure successful Programme implementation
Knowledge, experience and skills:
  • Undergraduate university degree or professional qualification in business administration, management, finance, social science, public administration, economics, or another relevant field
  • 3+ years of project management experience with an (International) NGO or International Organisation, or Multinational Organisation with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of project management best practice
  • Strong administrative and financial management experience, and experience in Monitoring & Evaluation an asset
  • Experience in Knowledge and Learning Management an asset
  • Knowledge (political, socio-economic, cultural) and experience of the Africa region expected
  • Knowledge of, or considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption
  • Considerable interest in land governance issues expected
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly at distance communication
  • Fluency in both English and French (both spoken and written) essential
  • Highly developed team work and intercultural communication skills
  • Readiness to travel to Africa and work flexible hours
