RIO TINTO SCHOLARSHIPS 2016

Rio Tinto plc, together with CEPMLP, acknowledges the importance of contributing worldwide to sustainable mineral resources development.  As part of the CEPMLP/Rio Tinto Partnership agreement, the CEPMLP are offering fully funded postgraduate scholarships leading to the degree Mineral Law and Policy LLM .
The award will offer the successful candidate:
  • Payment of academic tuition fees
  • 12 monthly stipends for living expenses for a single student
  • An arrival allowance and thesis/assignment allowance
Applicants eligible for consideration should:
  • Already hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK upper second class honours degree or higher
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of English language competence (minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no component less than 6.0)
  • Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
  • Have a proven track record and potential to rise to positions of influence
  • Preferably be qualified lawyers having had some post-degree work experience in mining in the government, private sector, or academia
  • Be a national and resident of the following countries at the time of applying for the award, and go on to complete the degree within 12 months and return to their home country at the end of the period of study:

Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2015

Award:  A full scholarship for a ‘preferred university’ master program (a complete list is available at www.worldbank.org/scholarships) in development studies outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship or residence. Scholarship includes full tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip air tickets and travel allowance. Upon completion of the program JJ/WBGSP scholars must return to their home countries to apply their new skills to their countries’ social and economic development.
Core Eligibility Criteria:
·         A national of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow;
·         Not a dual citizen of a developed country;
·         Holds a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;
·         Have at least 3 years of recent development related experience

Project Description
The objective of the five year project (“MERIT”) is to support Malawi Government’s aim to increase the reading skills of 5.58 million primary school students in Malawi by focusing resources, encouraging innovation, and striving to meet the global need for improved access to a quality education over the life of the five year strategy, through: (a) improving reading instruction in the primary grades; (b) increasing parental and community support for student reading; and, finally, (c) improving the policy environment for reading. Creative is looking to assemble a strong team whose combined skills and experience can achieve these goals. Creative is currently seeking candidates for the Reading Instruction and Teacher Training Specialist position.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· At least three years of technical experience in teacher training programming and oversight. This experience should involve direct work experience on reading instruction, teacher mentoring,
coaching teachers reading, classroom management and delivery of teaching instructions using a
phonics approach.
· Experience with developing materials and managing national teacher trainings (In-Service and Pre-Service)
· Experience with teacher training curriculum development and implementation
· Significant (at least two years) experience in designing and coordinating trainings in technical areas relevant to MERIT, demonstrated ability to effectively transferring skills and knowledge to program participants is essential.
· Experience coordinating trainings with scope and content similar to MERIT.

2015 Coca-Cola MENA Scholarship

The application for the Coca-Cola MENA Scholarship Program is now open. The Coca-Cola Company & the US Department of State have once again partnered to sponsor 100 university students from across the Middle East, North Africa and Near Asia to attend a month-long summer entrepreneurship program at Indiana University’s prestigious Kelley School of Business, one of the top ranked business programs in the United States. This multi-faceted, immersion scholarship program is designed to give a group of students the opportunity to learn about business education through an accelerated curriculum.
The program, which begins in late June 2015, is fully funded including travel to and within the United States, accommodations, meals, and university and visa fees. Please note that the program will take place during Ramadan and that the travel dates can’t be amended. Indiana University is well aware of Ramadan and will make accommodations for attending scholarship winners.
Eligibility

Civil Society Scholar Awards

The Civil Society Scholar Awards (CSSA) support international academic mobility to enable doctoral students and university faculty to access resources that enrich socially engaged research and critical scholarship in their home country or region.
The awards support activities such as fieldwork (data collection); research visits to libraries, archives, or universities; course/curriculum development; and international collaborations leading to a peer-reviewed publication. 
Civil Society Scholars are selected on the basis of their outstanding contributions to research or other engagement with local communities, to furthering debates on challenging societal questions, and to strengthening critical scholarship and academic networks within their fields.
Eligibility Criteria
The awards are open to the following academic populations:
  • Doctoral students of eligible fields studying at accredited universities inside or outside of their home country;
  • Full-time faculty members teaching at universities in their home country.
Candidates must be citizens of the following countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Kosovo, Laos, Libya, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar/Burma, Nepal, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Serbia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or Yemen.
  • Project duration: 2–10 months
  • Eligible dates: August 1, 2015–August 31, 2016
  • Maximum funding requests: $10,000 for doctoral students; $15,000 for faculty members

Ineligibility Criteria
Applicants may not request grant assistance for the support of:
  • federal and/or state taxes;
  • computer hardware, software or other computer-related equipment;
  • automobile-related expenses;
  • tuition/academic fees if the activity is not for the first year of a doctoral program;
  • conference attendance which is not part of a larger research project;
  • applications from more than one individual.
Ineligible fields include: business administration, management training, computer science, finance/banking, marketing, engineering, hard sciences (physics, biology, chemistry, etc.), mathematics, medical sciences, or teaching English as a foreign language/language instruction.
Applicants with permanent resident status, dual citizenship, and/or asylum seekers in Australia, Canada, European Union, New Zealand, Nordic Countries, or the United States are not eligible to apply.
Students or faculty currently enrolled in master’s degree programs are not eligible to apply.
Guidelines
Competition for the CSSA awards is merit-based. Selection will be made on the basis of proven academic excellence, a clear and justifiable need for international travel to complete the research project, and relevance of the project to the development of open society in the applicant’s home country. 
Selected grantees may be invited by CSSA to attend short-term trainings/summer school, and a participant conference during the grant period. Travel costs and accommodation for these events will be covered by CSSA.

Social Impact (SI) is a Washington, DC-area international development management consulting firm. SI’s mission is to improve the effectiveness of international development programs in improving people’s lives. We provide a full range of management consulting, technical assistance, and training services to strengthen international development programs, organizations, and policies. We provide services globally in the areas of monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, project and program design, organizational capacity building, and gender and social analysis. SI services cross-cut all development sectors including democracy and governance, health and education, the environment, and economic growth. SI’s clients include US government agencies such as USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the US Department of State, bilateral donors, multilateral development banks, foundations, and non-profits.
Proposal Objective:
SI is implementing a five-year USAID Partnership for Education: Evaluating Systems project, with the goal to support the Ghana Ministry of Education (MOE), Ghana Education Service (GES) and other local organizations to create effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks, and encourage learning through impact and performance evaluations.
The purpose of the anticipated release of the five-year EGR Performance Management and Learning Task Order Activity is to create the conditions to enable the USAID/Ghana Education Office to design and implement a comprehensive performance management, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management and reporting system in support of the Partnership for Education project. This will be accomplished through:
  1. Strengthening performance management processes and tools.
  2. Improving and expanding learning and knowledge management function to support management decision making and learning.
  3. Improving USAID/Ghana’s Education Office M&E practices and processes and increasing staff capacity for learning and adapting.
  4. Researching the societal and familial practices and administrative factors affecting early grade reading.
Position Description:
SI is seeking a full-time Chief of Party who will be responsible for oversight and management of the EGR Activity. The project is anticipated to be over five years, with potential start date March 2015.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Contractor Representative in Ghana and will be responsible for the activities of all long and short-term personnel.
  • Work closely with USAID/Ghana’s Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for smooth implementation of the Activity.
  • Meet with USAID on a regular basis and represent the project before USAID/Ghana, GES, implementing partners and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs and community groups for smooth implementation.
  • Mentor, support and supervise project staff and directly manage the key technical team.
  • Facilitate the development of annual project work plans and budgets and ensure the timely submission and quality of all project reports, materials, and publications, compliant with the contract agreement.
  • Ensure necessary program planning, development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in social sciences or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in M&E and project management of programs of similar scope and requirements in developing countries, preferably five of those 10 years would be experience gained in Africa implementing international donors-funded programs.
  • Previous experience as project director or similar positions with a strong reputation for developing excellent collaborative working relationships with counterparts, other contractors and international organizations and donors.
  • At least five years of experience in evaluations and/or assessments is required.
