BBC Media Action is looking for a Research Assistant to support the research related to BBC Media Action activities in Lybia and Tunisia.
Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Reports to: Research Manager, North Africa
Contract duration: To March 31st 2018 (with possibility to extend subject to funding)

Main duties:
- The evaluation of the trainings through trainees and trainers’ questionnaires;
- Undertaking both quantitative and qualitative research to evaluate the impact of the programmes implemented;
- Audience needs’ assessment.
The Research Assistant will support the Tunis-based Research Manager and Research Officer to deliver the evaluation research. With support from the Research Manager and the team in Tunis, the Research Assistant is likely to undertake the following:
- Support the London-based Research Manager and Research Officer to complete the research evaluation;
- Collect feedback from audience (through face to face or telephone surveys);
- Working with the Social Media Manager to get online data as required;
- Prepare and compile a monthly report and quarterly report based on information gathered as required weekly for El Kul and Social Media Manager;
- Recording research findings, through transcription and data entry (pre-training and post-training forms, feedback questionnaires, studio audience feedback forms…);
- Supporting the Research Manager in research analysis using a pre-designed analysis framework;
- Writing summary evaluation reports in English;
- In addition, the research assistant may support the research team with organizing focus groups/group discussions, setting up surveys, etc.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Fluent in Arabic, French and English;
- Strong spoken and written communications skills;
- Able to work with staff at a distance;
- High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation;
- Able to take responsibility to meet deadlines and making progress without direct supervision;
- Motivation to engage in and manage a wide range of intellectual tasks (such as research design, analysis and reporting) and physical data collection (such as administering surveys and in depth interviews);
- Strong computer skills, especially Excel.
