Position title: Member Support Advisor MENA
Working location: Casablanca
Mission of the position:
The Member Support Advisor is the link between Promoting & Supporting Associations (PSAs), the General Secretariat (GSC) and Member Associations (MAs) to ensure a sound partnership guided by effective stakeholder management within the Federation of SOS CVI. Member Support Advisors take an active role in supporting the sustainability and strategic development of Member Associations.
This is accomplished through
- Supporting the CVI Representative in all interactions with PSAs, other MAs as well as the GSC; upon request of the CVI Representative, the MSA replaces the CVI Representative in meetings and also represents line management issues in MA National Management Team
- Providing and consolidating MA data & KPIs across all functions (excluding Donor Services & Editors) to CVI Representative for steering and escalating; upon assignment/ agreement by the CVI Representative, the MSA advises MAs on measures to be taken in case of deviations
- Providing information and general coordination of services and contacts requested by stakeholders
- Maintaining of relationships between stakeholders through appropriate information management (communication, facilitation)
- Ensuring that processes are in place in MAs to provide standard information and reports, specific information for donors on request, and to support visits of PSAs and donors. The focus is on timely, accurate and good quality standard information.
Member Support Advisors are guided by

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
Planning
- Support the planning of the annual cycle for interaction between the CVI Representative and the MAs (e.g. preparing dialogue sheets, ensuring that plans and reviews are received on time and are technically correct); advise MAs in the preparation of the MA plans
- Ensure the link between the MA planning and budgeting process
- Support the linking of needs and funds by providing the necessary content information based on input from functions
- Support the management of PSA portfolios by providing necessary content information to IO
- Support the development of MA sustainable path or long-term strategies
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Have an overview of core SOS Children’s Villages policies and Policy Support Documents
- Support the development and update of International Policies and Policy Support Documents in cooperation with the Member Associations and functions
- Have an overview on the results of the external and internal functional audits of MAs; follow up implementation of recommended actions related to the responsibilities of the CVI Rep
- Support the CVI Representative in decision making by preparing management reports and overview on key performance indicators and MA statistics (across all functions) upon need; upon assignment by the CVI Representative, advise in cooperation with functions MAs on measures to be taken in case of deviations
- Facilitate and support the exchange between CVI Representative and functions and follow up on their agreements. Upon request of the CVI Representative, replace the CVI Representative in meetings as temporary stand-in
- Takes over a consultancy role in regional/global projects upon request by CVI Rep
- Screens documents prepared by the MA for Board Meetings incl. updates of MA statutes (if relevant), in cooperation with relevant IO colleagues, to ensure a proper base for decision making at Board Meetings on MA level
Information & Coordination
- Provide information and general coordination of services and contact requested by PSAs, IO and other MAs (Info Hub)
- Collect, check and forward standard reports to PSAs (e.g. Annual Report) including technical handling of database entry (Info Hub)
- Process miscellaneous requests from PSAs and other MAs (e.g. distribute donations in kind) and prepare non-standard special reports (Info Hub)
- Support IO, PSAs with key performance indicators upon need & in cooperation with functions
- Project management support in construction projects to MAs and PSAs
Systems Support
- Implement and give first level user support for MAs for the SOS controlling system LUCY (Construction, Monitoring & Reporting)
- Act as first level support for the Linking, Needs & Funds Database
Profile
Experience
· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in project/programme coordination and development
· Experience in capacity building in project cycle management,
· Experience working in the MENA region
Skills & Knowledge
· Technical skills related to project cycle management including proposal writing and monitoring & evaluation.
· Ability to make presentation and lead capacity building activities/workshops
· Leadership skills especially relating to change processes
· Ability to think and plan strategically
· Ability to work under pressure and keep a good sense of humour.
· Strong personal organisational and self-management skills.
· Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
· Capacity to build and maintain relationships and to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity.
· Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Languages
· Fluency in English with excellent writing and speaking skills is required.
· A high level of Arabic and/or French are also desired.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree & development studies, international cooperation, or a related field is required
