Project Description
NORC is conducting an evaluation of a project in Burkina Faso which sought to promote political party responsiveness through platform development and party monitoring of the electoral process; (ii) to increase effectiveness of the electoral process through streamlined and efficient electoral administration; and (iii) to promote positive youth engagement around the electoral period. The evaluation will focus on questions regarding the empowerment of youth organizations.
For this evaluation NORC is seeking a democratic systems development specialist, with experience in evaluation. The specialist will be expected to work for approximately six weeks between mid-October and the end of December. Travel is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in democratic systems development in West Africa.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods including surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions.
- Familiarity with the political situation in Burkina Faso
- At least 10 years’ experience working in democratic systems development in West Africa.
- Fluency in French, and local Burkinabe dialects.
- Familiarity with topics such as the sustainability of civil society organizations, youth, electoral systems, conflict prevention and mitigation will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with international evaluation team while they are in Burkina Faso.
- Provide logistical support as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between NORC researchers and consultants, and local partners in Burkina Faso.
- Help to analyze data and write reports and deliverables.
