Organizational Setting and Reporting This position is located in El Geneina, within the Engineering Section of the Africa Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). The incumbent will report to the Sector Engineer.
Duties and responsibilities:
Within delegated authority, the Associate Engineer (Electrical) will apply professional engineering knowledge and expertise in performance of the following duties:
• Develops technical data (SOW, BOQ, and drawings) by selecting materials and by calculating sizes, dimensions, quantities and costs to be incorporated in formal specifications. • Conduct site inspection for electrical projects. • Inspect periodic, diagnostic service and repair of electrical power systems and electrical networks by providing guidance to technicians. • Develop and implement Electrical System and HVAC designs and test strategies, including air flow test, functional test and power variation. • Daily follow up with technical staff in the fields of power generation, distribution and power control by monitoring projects implementation and by taking correcting actions when required. • Prepare annual requisition plan, raise the list of Electrical materials required for projects and maintenance, and do the technical evaluation assessments. • Preparing and raising of work orders in data base “Galileo system” for electrical works • Prepare submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Perform other duties as required;

Analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure. Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
• Planning and Organizing: Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.
• Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals; solicits input by genuinely valuing others’ ideas and expertise; is willing to learn from others; places team agenda before personal agenda; supports and acts in accordance with final group decision, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position; shares credit for team accomplishments and accepts joint responsibility for team shortcomings.
Qualifications:
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in electrical engineering or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible experience in Electrical engineering or related fields. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical power generation systems, distribution, switching and control is desirable.
Language: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic is required.
