MEDICAL COORDINATOR (M/F) LIBERIA

MSF's work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics; the goal of MSF is to provide emergency care to people who are affected by armed conflicts, epidemics and natural or man-made disasters.

MEDICAL COORDINATOR (M/F)

LIBERIA

Main purpose
The main purpose of the position is to plan, design, lead, coach and coordinate the implementation of the overall medical content, strategies, activities and resources for the Barnesville Junction Hospital in order to facilitate the delivery of quality medical care for the target population (children under 5 and Ebola virus disease (EVD) Survivor Clinic) to improve their health condition and access to care particularly during this EVD/post-EVD context, without putting MSF staff at risk.
MISSION AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
He/she guarantees the appropriate implementation and management of medical aspects of MSF projects in the mission, ensuring the achievement of the objectives set. This will be done in close collaboration with the Head of Mission, the Medical Department and other local authorities and following the corporate MSF ethos and values, health policies, protocols, and operational plan.
He/she is responsible to define, monitor and update the medical content of the MSF country policy and annual plan and budget by scanning health needs through exploratory missions and implementation of health information system.
He/she assures vaccination and health promotion as strategies for disease prevention and awareness.
He/she is responsible to define and size all resources (Health work force, pharmacy and medical equipment management in collaboration with other departments) and timelines, procedures and protocols in order to efficiently achieve the medical objectives in the BJH project, exploratory missions, and potential emergency response projects. .
He/she is responsible to coach, and directly support the project coordinator, BJH medical referent, and medical teams in the implementation of the medical activities, translating the MSF health policy and identified health needs into project objectives and activities.
He/she is responsible for the Mission’s Health Policy and Medical Repatriation Policy.
He/she assures preparedness for other emergencies that may arise in the country (Ebola EPREP/rapid response, other outbreak response, potential violence, etc…).
PROFILE/REQUIREMENTS :
Education:
Degree in medicine or other paramedical studies. Open to Medical doctors and Nurses.
Specialization in tropical medicine or a degree in Public Health would be an asset.
Experience:
Essential: working experience of at least two years in relevant jobs and previous humanitarian experience in MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
Previous working experience in Ebola context is an asset.
Language:
English essential – French is an asset
Knowledge:
Computer literacy (word, excel and internet)

Networking
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Position to be filled in January for at least 12 months up to 2 years
Fixed term contract
Family position with perdiem, housing, and partial coverage for education fees.
Salary status according to the MSF salary grid and your previous experience in international NGOs if any.
