Multiple technical experts, Senegal

Chemonics seeks multiple technical experts for an anticipated five-year, USAID education initiative in Senegal to increase children's access to high-quality education and improve reading outcomes for students in primary school. The project will focus on these goals by supporting early grade reading delivery systems in primary school and daaras and by increasing parent and community engagement in early grade reading instruction.  We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 

We are seeking technical experts for the following positions:
  • Early grade reading program design
  • Teacher professional development
  • Mother tongue instruction
  • Information management
  • Monitoring & Evaluation 
  • Communications, media, and public outreach
  • Grants management


Responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical input to project implementation to ensure all activities and partners achieve the initiative's targeted results
  • Serve as a liaison between the education sector in Senegal, stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
  • Contribute to project deliverables and reports pertaining to specific scope of work and expertise
  • Implement a strategic, sustainable approach across components and actors
Qualifications: 
  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant development experience designing, implementing, and managing USAID or other donor-funded development programs
  • Minimum 2 years in West Africa and experience in Senegal preferred
  • Significant experience in key areas listed above with proven ability to achieve program targets
  • Strong ability and desire to work collaboratively with the education systems in Senegal, international donors, and local partners
  • Knowledge of appropriate technologies
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection and management, and results dissemination
  • Interest in capacity building of local partners
  • Experience implementing and managing education projects in developing countries, specifically projects related to basic education, early grade reading, or strengthening education systems preferred 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French
