UNHCR-DRC Resettlement Deployment Scheme

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is recruiting members for the new UNHCR-DRC Resettlement Deployment Scheme (Resettlement Roster).
In beginning of December 2015 the DRC Stand-by Roster was officially awarded a contract with Division of International Protection in UNHCR to become one of the four partners involved in the administration of the Resettlement Deployment Scheme. With 25 years of experience with establishing and administrating rosters combined with a strong mandate on protection this is at the core of the work for DRC.
The objective of the UNHCR-DRC Resettlement Deployment Scheme is to mobilize qualified and committed resettlement experts and to deploy them according to request by UNHCR in a timely and effective manner thereby strengthening the capacity of UNHCR to meet the needs for resettlement in 2016 by deploying dedicated and qualified specialists to field operations. That is why we are now looking for members for the newly established roster.
We are looking for qualified resettlement specialists proficient in English who are ready to work effectively in stressful and hardship environments and who would like to commit for active membership of minimum 3 years.
The following general qualifications are taken into consideration as a requirement for membership of the Resettlement (RST) Roster:
  1. Recent (within last five years ) relevant international experience (i.e. previous experience in case processing for refugees)
  2. Previous individual casework experience (interviewing skills, counselling skills, systematically handling cases for clients with vulnerabilities, preferably refugees)
  3. Legal background through education and/or work experience
  4. Experience working in Governmental RSD procedures (on the executive or judicial side)
  5. Proven knowledge of the international legal framework governing refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons and statelessness
  6. Proficient in another UN language in addition to English (in particular French/Spanish/Arabic)
  7. Experience from UNHCR, preferably in resettlement and/or RSD work
  8. Proven capacities in UNHCR protection work (based on Performance Appraisal Reports)
Kindly be informed that current members of the DRC Stand-by Roster with a protection profile should notapply for the RST Roster. These members will be screened and contacted separately.

HOW TO APPLY:
To be considered for the Resettlement Deployment Scheme, your application must include the following:
  1. UN P11 form
    Download the P11 form.
  2. Three references
    Please provide the names of three references, preferably current and previous supervisors, their titles, and organizations, their current email addresses (important) and telephone numbers. Describe their supervisory relationship to you and the period they have known you. Referees should be people who understand the type of work done in a refugee context, and who are able to comment on your capability to contribute to this work.
    Kindly note that the referees may be contacted at any stage in the recruitment process, therefore, it is advisable that you inform them of your application to the Deployment Scheme at an early date.
  3. Cover letter
    In your cover letter, please specify the skills that make you suitable for the deployments under the Resettlement Scheme.
  4. A Performance evaluation (if applicable)
    For candidates who work/have worked at UNHCR or other organizations, please provide a copy of your latest evaluation report.
