Role overview
| The Purpose of this job is to support KULIMA in the implementation of the PRONEA Support Project through training, coaching and mentoring extension officers (from the Government and Private/NGO service providers) in 4 districts of Manica Province (Sussundenga, Bárue, Manica and Gondola) to improve their service delivery capacity. As an advisor you will train, coach and mentor extension officers and lead farmers on participatory training and extension approaches. You'll plan and develop specific manuals for each subject that will be addressed for the development and sustainability of service providers under. You'll facilitate the mobilization and strengthening of associations of lead farmers (e.g. Poultry Vaccinators, Community Animal Health Workers). You'll train extension service providers on extension service organization provision; and participate and or facilitate the organization of district and provincial level steering committees and stakeholder meetings. In this assignment, you will work with KULIMA's extension coordinator and you'll support 12 field extension officers. You will also work through the 50 public and private extension officers which you will be entitled to coach and train. |
Skills, qualifications and experience required
| Applicants to this position should hold a masters degree in Agriculture, Extension, or related field. We'll also consider bachelor degree holders in a relevant fiels with at least 10 years of experience. Portuguese proficiency or willingness to learn Portuguese is also essential You'll have at least 5 years of experience on participatory training and extension approaches, techniques and methods. You're computer literate and some experience or knowledge of project management is desirable. |
| You will be required to ride a motorbike during your placement, consequently, a motorbike license will be essential and training will be provided if required. Additionally, during the course of this placement, you will be required to share the house with other volunteers. Funding for this placement has not been secured yet at the moment but is very likely to get secured very soon. Therefore, the final decision on this placement will depend on the approval of the project. |
