Rio Tinto plc, together with CEPMLP, acknowledges the importance of contributing worldwide to sustainable mineral resources development.  As part of the CEPMLP/Rio Tinto Partnership agreement, the CEPMLP are offering fully funded postgraduate scholarships leading to the degree Mineral Law and Policy LLM .

The award will offer the successful candidate:

• Payment of academic tuition fees
• 12 monthly stipends for living expenses for a single student
• An arrival allowance and thesis/assignment allowance

Applicants eligible for consideration should:

• Already hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK upper second class honours degree or higher
• Be able to demonstrate a high level of English language competence (minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no component less than 6.0)
• Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
• Have a proven track record and potential to rise to positions of influence
• Preferably be qualified lawyers having had some post-degree work experience in mining in the government, private sector, or academia

Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2015

Award:  A full scholarship for a ‘preferred university’ master program (a complete list is available at www.worldbank.org/scholarships) in development studies outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship or residence. Scholarship includes full tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip air tickets and travel allowance. Upon completion of the program JJ/WBGSP scholars must return to their home countries to apply their new skills to their countries’ social and economic development.

Core Eligibility Criteria:

·         A national of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow;

·         Not a dual citizen of a developed country;

·         Holds a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;

·         Have at least 3 years of recent development related experience

·         Not be a staff member (which includes consultants) or relative of a staff member of the World Bank Group.

Scholarship

• Airfare: A round-trip economy class ticket
• Monthly Allowance: 900,000 won(KRW) per month
• Research Allowance: 210,000 won for students in human and social sciences; 240,000 won for students in natural and mechanic sciences per semester
• Relocation (Settlement) Allowance: 200,000 won upon arrival
• Language Training Fee : The full costs up to 1 year
• Tuition: All admission fees are waived by the host institution. The full tuition is paid by NIIED.
• Dissertation Printing Costs: 500,000 ~ 800,000 won for the costs related to a printing dissertation
• Medical Insurance: 20,000 won per month(limited insurance coverage) will be provided to the university for students.
• Special fund for students proficient in Korean language (TOPIK level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month(Commencing from the main program)

Eligibility

• Both applicant and his/her parents must be citizens of the foreign country.
• Applicants cannot have Korean citizenship.
• Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for a long period of time.
• Should be under 40 years of age as of 1 September 2015.
• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of August 31st, 2015.
• Applicants who are enrolling or have already enrolled in the same academic program in Korea as the one they are applying for will not be admitted.

Application

Applicants can apply for the scholarships through the Korean Embassy in their home country or a participating Korean University. See the websites of Korean Embassy (Consulate) in your own country or the  universities in Korea in which you want to study in.

The selection process for applicants will proceed in three steps:

1. Firstly, applicants must be selected by the institution he or she is applying through (a Korean embassy, or a designated university).
2. Secondly, applicants who passed the first round must be selected by the NIIED Selection Committee.
3. Finally, applicants who passed the second round must gain admission from a university.

2015 Coca-Cola MENA Scholarship

The application for the Coca-Cola MENA Scholarship Program is now open. The Coca-Cola Company & the US Department of State have once again partnered to sponsor 100 university students from across the Middle East, North Africa and Near Asia to attend a month-long summer entrepreneurship program at Indiana University’s prestigious Kelley School of Business, one of the top ranked business programs in the United States. This multi-faceted, immersion scholarship program is designed to give a group of students the opportunity to learn about business education through an accelerated curriculum.

The program, which begins in late June 2015, is fully funded including travel to and within the United States, accommodations, meals, and university and visa fees. Please note that the program will take place during Ramadan and that the travel dates can’t be amended. Indiana University is well aware of Ramadan and will make accommodations for attending scholarship winners.

Eligibility

All Candidates must :

Civil Society Scholar Awards

The Civil Society Scholar Awards (CSSA) support international academic mobility to enable doctoral students and university faculty to access resources that enrich socially engaged research and critical scholarship in their home country or region.

The awards support activities such as fieldwork (data collection); research visits to libraries, archives, or universities; course/curriculum development; and international collaborations leading to a peer-reviewed publication. 

Civil Society Scholars are selected on the basis of their outstanding contributions to research or other engagement with local communities, to furthering debates on challenging societal questions, and to strengthening critical scholarship and academic networks within their fields.

Eligibility Criteria

The awards are open to the following academic populations:

• Doctoral students of eligible fields studying at accredited universities inside or outside of their home country;
• Full-time faculty members teaching at universities in their home country.

Ineligibility Criteria

Applicants may not request grant assistance for the support of:

• federal and/or state taxes;
• computer hardware, software or other computer-related equipment;
• automobile-related expenses;
• tuition/academic fees if the activity is not for the first year of a doctoral program;
• conference attendance which is not part of a larger research project;
• applications from more than one individual.

Ineligible fields include: business administration, management training, computer science, finance/banking, marketing, engineering, hard sciences (physics, biology, chemistry, etc.), mathematics, medical sciences, or teaching English as a foreign language/language instruction.

Applicants with permanent resident status, dual citizenship, and/or asylum seekers in Australia, Canada, European Union, New Zealand, Nordic Countries, or the United States are not eligible to apply.

Guidelines

Competition for the CSSA awards is merit-based. Selection will be made on the basis of proven academic excellence, a clear and justifiable need for international travel to complete the research project, and relevance of the project to the development of open society in the applicant’s home country. 

Selected grantees may be invited by CSSA to attend short-term trainings/summer school, and a participant conference during the grant period. Travel costs and accommodation for these events will be covered by CSSA.

Oceans contain the greatest diversity of life on Earth, yet less than 3 percent of the world's oceans are protected and more than 60 percent are located in international waters, outside any one country's jurisdiction. WWF is working around the world to protect oceans and the human and marine communities that depend on them.

WWF's mission in the Pacifc and in the Indian Oceans is to ensure strong stakeholder participation to conserve rich oceans and coastal diversity and address threats from climate change, overfshing, and unsustainable marine resource management.

Fellowship Overview

To build local capacity across the Pacifc Ocean and the Indian Ocean, WWF's Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program (EFN) is offering fellowships to future conservation leaders to enable them to pursue graduate-level study (master's and PhD) in conservation- related felds. The goal of the program is to empower individuals to advance marine conservation in their home countries.

The Swedish Institute’s Young Leaders Visitors Programme (YLVP) is an intercultural leadership programme that aims to lay a foundation for dialogue and knowledge sharing among young leaders from the Middle East, North Africa and Sweden.

The YLVP is designed to provide the participants with new skills, broadened networks and innovative tools to strengthen their work to drive social change in their respective contexts.

The participants are visionaries who are in a position to make a difference. They are young, open-minded leaders in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank-Gaza*, Yemen and Sweden who are actively working for democracy and human rights within the spheres of society, culture, politics and media.

Who can apply to YLVP?

To apply to Young Leaders Visitors Programme you have to:

• Be an engaged leader within the spheres of society, culture, politics or media (for example project managers, youth leaders, journalists, bloggers, activists, youth politicians, cultural workers, civil servants, lawyers and pedagogues).
• Work actively for democracy and human rights.
• Be between 20-32 years old (at the time of the start of the programme).
• Have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
• A citizen of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank-Gaza*, Yemen or Sweden

The programme comprises of four weeks of intensive work divided into two modules:
Module 1: YLVP in Sweden (17 May-5 June, 2015) 

This module offers experience-based intercultural leadership training and personal as well as group development. It also involves advanced hands-on training with the use of cutting-edge social media tools. Exchange of experiences and creative strategies in the work for social change takes place through seminars and workshops with facilitators working actively in these fields.

Module 2: YLVP in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region (21-27 November, 2015) 

Module 2 offers an opportunity to maintain, build and expand your network. All participants will meet again in one of the participating MENA countries to continue the exchange and follow up the development of their work.

Accommodation, food and travel

All costs related to accommodation, food and transport during the YLVP are covered by the Swedish Institute. The Swedish Institute will also arrange and pay for your air travel to and from Sweden and to the location of the second module of the programme in the MENA region. Participants are themselves responsible for costs related to transport within their own countries

Insurance

During the programme in Sweden all participants will be insured against acute illness and accident through the Swedish State Group Insurance and personal insurance by The Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Service Agency (Kammarkollegiet).

2015 Junior Fellows Internship Programme at United Nations University , Japan

The United Nations University Office of the Rector recruits highly qualified applicants to work as Junior Fellows at the UNU headquarters in Tokyo. Junior Fellows are recruited through a competitive application process twice per year for a period of four months. Graduate students interested in the work of the United Nations — and in particular, UNU — are encouraged to apply.

The underlying principles of the Junior Fellows Internship Programme at the Office of the Rector are centred on creating a dynamic, challenging and rewarding experience for graduate level students and young professionals. Successful candidates will contribute to the work of the Office of the Rector, the United Nations University, and the UN system as a whole. The programme provides opportunities for the development of new skills and knowledge and is a unique and constructive setting for the practical application of capacities acquired through graduate studies.

The programme places a strong emphasis on the training, guidance, and hands-on experience that form the foundation of a successful and beneficial internship.

The programme opens with a one-week orientation designed to familiarize junior fellows with UNU, their co-workers, facilities and the working processes within the Office of the Rector. The knowledge and practical experience gained will also be beneficial to those candidates seeking a career in the United Nations. Junior fellows at the Office of the Rector can expect to gain valuable work experience while contributing in meaningful ways to UNU’s mission.

Criteria

e) Funding plan — Download and complete the “Funding plan”, outlining the source, amount, and duration of actual and/or projected funding while in Tokyo.
