Brief Job Description
The Country Manager is responsible for the overall administration of RwandAir’ s operation in the station and meet uplift, load factor and revenue targets set for the Country. S/he undertakes responsibility and accountability for the management, control and administration of RwandAir’s assets.
S/he is primarily responsible to oversee all sales staff and responsible for the sales, marketing, customer services, and financial activities of the Country. S/he is responsible to build strong relations with all relevant government and regulatory agencies and comply with all local and international legal requirements, conventions, policies, procedures and regulations.
S/he will be responsible to identify sales opportunities and implement sales and marketing initiatives, develop short and long term sales and marketing plans, formulate competitive analysis, recommend pricing actions, promote and advertise WB services, provide adequate and timely feedback to head office and expand and maintain distribution channels and trade partners.
S/he is responsible for cost effective solutions to deliver its programs and build customer retention programs.

Qualification and Experience

• University Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Commercial Operations in the Travel Industry of which a minimum of 2 years are at a senior level with a proven track record.
• Experience in Account relationship management.
• Knowledge of sales, reservations, airport services and cargo.
• Commercial acumen with an overall knowledge of airline operations.
• An excellent command of the English language (written and verbal) is essential.
• Proven track record in airline sales, marketing, reservations and revenue management processes.
• Proven ability to work independently and think both tactically and strategically.
• In depth knowledge of respective country including how to sell effectively in the market and exhibiting strong cultural awareness.
• Knowledge of IATA recommendations to airlines / travel agencies for selling in the marketplace.
• Police Clearance

The Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL), as part of the Hivos managed KP REACH Consortium is looking for: Vacancy Name: KP REACH National Programme Officer (8 vacancies)

The Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL), as part of the KP REACH Consortium is implementing a 3-year regional programme in eight countries in Southern Africa. Funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, CAL seeks to appoint eight (8) experienced National Programme Officers - each one to be based in each of the programme countries as follows: Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The ideal candidates must be self-motivated, energetic and highly organised with a deep and holistic understanding of the multi-layered issues facing organisations working on HIV/AIDS and Key Populations.
This is a full time position - initial 12-month contract, with a potential to extend for up to two years. Applicants must either be nationals of the countries above and internationals with a valid residence and work permit are eligible to apply for this position.
About the Coalition of African Lesbians
The Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL) was established in 2003. The Coalition is committed to raising consciousness amongst and strengthening activism and leadership of lesbian and bisexual women and transdiverse people. CAL believe in the power of collective action. CAL view themselves as a part of social movements, including the women's movement, the sexual and reproductive rights movement, the broader lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex movement and the economic justice movement.
CAL works to transform Africa into a place where all lesbian and bisexual women and transdiverse people enjoy the full range of human rights, secure in the knowledge that we are recognized as full citizens, with rich and diverse cultures, and a significant and respected presence in all spheres of life, including social, political and economic and through personal and organizational growth.
CAL is an activist organization engaging in direct action to demonstrate our resistance and rage against those who oppress us; CAL mobilises its communities and others to take action against patriarchy, homophobia and other forms of oppression; lobby those in power to make decisions that advance our rights; constantly develop our own analysis and thinking based on our personal and lived experiences and realities and learning from others. In this process CALs produces and creates knowledge; and through media and consciousness raising work engage in influencing the ideas, beliefs and understanding of broader society about justice for LBT people.
The ideology of CAL is one that is rooted in an analysis of patriarchy and intersecting bases of oppression including race, class, gender, geography, HIV status, age, gender expression, sexual orientation and other factors. A such, the issue that connects different parts of their work and with different movements is that of the demand and shaping of autonomy over our bodies and lives as people on the margins, including lesbian women and women who have sex with women, women who are sex workers, young women, women living with HIV and those working on and seeking abortion services, all criminalised, stigmatised and marginalised based on sexuality and gender and related factors. Job purpose
The role involves establishing and strengthening human rights monitoring and response systems in eight countries for regional data analysis and documentation to increase availability of evidence of human rights violations against KPs in order to strongly support advocacy to address the current drivers of negative beliefs and attitudes against Key Populations.
Duties
  • Reporting to the KP REACH Regional Programme Coordinator, the KP REACH National Programme Officer will be responsible for:
  • Providing coordination and support towards effective implementation of the KP REACH programme in-country.
  • Providing CAL with information needed for planning, and programme management.
  • Strengthening internal and partners' capacities to conduct effective programme management.
  • Contributing to the KP REACH Communications Working Group (CWG).
  • Attending various stakeholders' meetings including the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM).
  • Producing good practice case studies.
  • Managing the programme budget and ensuring that the programme achieves its objectives within the funds available and the project timeline.
  • Managing and coordinating scheduled reporting to meet institutional donor reporting requirements.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key contacts in strategic partner organisations.
  • Developing ideas and projects for formal collaboration with targeted development agencies, policy, and research organisations.
  • Contributing to relevant policy debates and discussions ensuring that CAL has increasing policy influence in-country.
Formal Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Social Sciences, Human Rights or Law from a reputable tertiary education institution.
  • Minimum of five years of working experience and track record of programme management work.
  • Knowledge and experience of working on advocacy and human rights.
  • Experience in providing human rights training.
  • Experience in primary research (interviewing), preferably on human rights violations.
  • Understanding of the human rights international and national legal system.
  • Experience in national and international advocacy.
  • Experience in writing research and/or advocacy documents.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Experience in managing computerized information management systems.
Personal attributes and knowledge
  • Demonstrates integrity by modelling the Coalition of African Lesbians values.
  • Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the Coalition of African Lesbians values.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues of human rights, social justice, with a passion for community development, understanding and concern for issues affecting KPs.

COUNTRY FOCAL PERSONS

If you are an individual who resonates with the ideal of playing a leading role in the important global agenda of malaria elimination, and who is truly passionate about using your keen and innovative mind to developing new approaches to contribute towards a dynamic and ambitious eff ort to improve health and development prospects for SADC, these positions will be ideal for you.
COUNTRY FOCAL PERSONS
(Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe)
The position
You will play a fundamental role in providing support in the implementation, at country level, of the regional malaria strategy funded by the Global Fund to Fight HIV, TB, and Malaria. Your success will hinge on your aptitude and interest in coordinating activities; working across various interventions and program units, and linking activities across the diff erent strategic interventions taking place to eliminate malaria in Botswana, and th e other seven E8 member states. As the designated point person in each of the 8 countries, you will serve as the touch point between the national malaria programs and the regional initiative. You will be seconded to, and work closely with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) Manager to ensure that the country implementation targets set by the regional E8 partnership are being met. To facilitate close collaboration with the Ministry of Health, you will be based in the Ministry of Health in Gaborone, with some local and regional travel.

Requirements

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Co-ordination: Support the NMCP Manager in the co-ordination and field supervision of all program issues relating to the regional malaria strategy and management of cross-border programmes. Co-ordinate the implementation of programming, field assessments, and capacity building related to these programmes as well as harmonize the project planning and field operations of the national and regional partners/contractors.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Facilitate the collection of disease and programmatic monitoring & evaluation data for dispatch and aggregation at regional level. In addition, monitor cross-border collaboration activities and co-ordinate meetings and data sharing activities between the country and its neighbours. Monitor, evaluate and manage the processes on the ground, with guidance from the NMCP Manager and programme heads, to ensure that the country meets the milestones and outcome targets of the regional strategy.
  • Partnership and collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between the Secretariat and the NMCP, with strategic and technical insights obtained from the NMCP Manager. Consistently collaborate with the focal persons in other countries to share information and to complement each other’s technical methods. Consolidate the relationship amongst the eight countries, as well as between the Secretariat and the national programs, as an essential component to successfully implement the regional strategy.
  • Staff supervision: Conduct field supervisory visits to review implementation of the regional malaria interventions by ministry of health units as well as by contracted organizations.
  • Reporting: Support NMCP Manager by drafting consolidated quarterly reports of the progress in implementing the regional strategy within the country, and comparing the monitoring & evaluation data for reporting on the grant. Additionally, prepare any presentations and reports related to the regional strategy as required.
  • Program planning and management: Being fully conversant with the strategic plans and regional work plans, collaborate with the NMCP Manager and the program focal points for diagnosis, vector control, and surveillance. Facilitate the allocation and coordination of the supporting national activities into the national strategies and plans.
Minimum requirements:
  • A degree in public health, epidemiology, or related discipline (masters level preferred).
  • At least 6 years relevant working experience, of which at least 3 years should be in malaria project management, preferably in a malaria elimination context.
  • Knowledge of health systems context through experience in various SADC countries is a distinct advantage.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically mobilize and coordinate partners around priority malaria interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience with planning, implementation, data management, analysis and interpretation of research studies and routine data for programmatic decision-making.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced demanding environment and to troubleshoot and follow projects through to completion, consistently on schedule, without loss of attention to detail.
  • Exceptional hands-on exposure in the formulation and execution of budgets, linking budget with program performance and impacts.
  • Language skills: Should be fluent in English and able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders in an unambiguous manner (verbal and written). Portuguese will be required for the focal persons based in Angola and Mozambique.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work independently.

2015 Canon Collins / Graça Machel Scholarships for PG Study in South Africa

Canon Collins Trust seeks to support exceptional individuals who are committed to social justice in Southern Africa and for whom a postgraduate qualification is an essential tool in working to create an open and just society.

In early 2015 the Trust revised its South African scholarship awards policy. For the next 3 years we will be offering scholarships only to those studying in three areas:

  1. Justice, which includes Law, Economics, Politics and the Environment
  2. Education policy and practice
  3. Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts

Applications for courses that are not within these areas (for example MBAs, medical sciences, sports sciences, applied sciences) will be rejected.

  • In addition, to be considered for a scholarship under this programme you must:
