The Vice-Chancellor, Nobel Laureate, Professor Brian P. Schmidt AC FAA FRS, seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial and visionary leader to be a part of and to contribute to the success of the University within the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP).
The Dean, who report to the Vice-Chancellor, must be a renowned academic with an international reputation for scholarship and research within one of the College’s current disciplines, have an opportunity to drive the success of this distinguished University
The leaders of the Colleges work collaboratively in forming relationships with all ANU College Deans to steer the University towards it strategic objectives.
THE COLLEGE OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
The College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) is a highly significant part of the University landscape. As a core part of Australia’s national university, the College has an important role and responsibility in the contemporary world, to produce and nurture intellectual leaders for Australia, the region and the world, who are at ease communicating with, working in, and contributing to the societies of Asia and the Pacific.
The College is one of the world’s leading centres of expertise on the Asia Pacific Region, and has been driving this knowledge and engagement for almost seventy years. With five Schools and Centres the Dean is responsible for the achievement of overall College research, education and outreach outcomes as identified in the strategic plan.
We seek a leader for this College who will work with the Vice-Chancellor, the University Executive, Deans of other Colleges, Academic Board and College staff to take the institution to the next phase.
The Dean will:
- Be an entrepreneurial and strategic leader with passion, personal drive and resilience;
- Have a demonstrated ability to work in the countries and cultures of Asia and the Pacific; and
- Be able to foster excellent relationships with governments and the private sector and have business, political and financial acumen.
