Head of Project
in Bangui, Central African Republic
The position is to be filled by 01 November 2016 with an initial contract duration until 30 June 2018. Deployment location is Bangui in the Central African Republic. Travel for work is required, taking the security situation into consideration.
Aims and duties of the position
As Head of Project you will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the project “Strengthening the resilience of the population affected by the armed conflict in Bangui”.
Your most important duties are:
- representing Welthungerhilfe and coordination of the project concept and planned project activities with local decision makers and other aid and development organisations operating in the project area
- management and implementation of the project based on the specific directives regarding content, schedule and budget in accordance with the standards of Welthungerhilfe and the donor
- ensuring correct and orderly financial planning and handling
- ensuring the necessary flow of information and public transparency of the project work in the deployment country
- management of 16 local experts plus support staff
- responsibility for the security of local staff involved in the project and for the implementation of the Welthungerhilfe security plan
As a qualified applicant you will possess the following:
- a university or polytechnical degree, e.g. in development cooperation or a comparable relevant qualification
- several years of project and leadership experience in the planning and supervision of development-oriented aid measures in international (aid) organisations, preferably in crisis regions
- a high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to work in areas with volatile local conditions
- Cooperation skills and ability to work in a team
- coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure
- business fluency in French and a very good knowledge of written and spoken English, a good knowledge of German is also an advantage
