The Role
The Foreign Affairs Committee is a committee of members of the House of Commons, responsible for scrutinising the policy, administration and expenditure of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its associated bodies.
Committee Specialists form part of a small committee team, working on a range of inquiries within the Committee’s subject area to support the scrutiny of government. This includes organising evidence, preparing briefing material, writing draft Committee reports and conducting analysis.
Specialists are expected to be knowledgeable about the Committee’s subject area and to be ready to share knowledge with, and work alongside, other parts of the House Service, while developing and maintaining relevant contacts and networks. Because of the Committee’s current work programme, specialist knowledge on the Middle East and North Africa Region would be an advantage.
