Communication: National and Provincial Levels: Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI): South African Police Service
The generic minimum requirements applicable to all the posts are as follows:
• Competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Fluent in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• No previous convictions or cases pending
• The ability to render at least ten (10) years of pensionable service before reaching the pensionable age of 60 years.

Additional post requirements:
• A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in Communication/Journalism/Public Relations with at least 4 years’ relevant work experience in the core functions of the post, of which 2 years should have been at supervisory level
• A valid motor vehicle driver’s licence
• The ability to handle multiple projects in a pressure driven environment with attention to detail
• The ability to work under pressure, irregular hours including weekends and public holidays when required
• Willingness to travel
• Computer literacy
• Willingness to be subjected to an integrity screening and security clearance process and be cleared at top secret level.
Core functions:
• Oversee and manage media activities, compilation and coordination of press releases, monitoring of media reports and analysis and coordinating of Provincial Media Liaison
• Develop standardised policies in support of corporate identity in the Directorate for Priority Investigation (DPCI)
• Institutionalise a corporate identity for all Directorate for Priority Investigation (DPCI) buildings
• Monitor the use of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) logo, provide a range of community outreach programmes aimed at promoting community awareness of and involvement in departmental programmes, activities and events
• Oversee and manage communication campaigns for the DPCI
• Provide exhibition services for the SAPS, national and provincial shows, in other government departments and organisations on invitation
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key role-players in DPCI programmes
• Oversee and manage social responsibility programmes for the DPCI
• Ensure effective, efficient and economical use of resources including assets, financial and human resources for improved service delivery.
General:

• The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form
• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form
• Certified copies of an applicant’s ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the post and motor vehicle driver’s licence must be included
• Copies must be correctly certified on the copy itself, not at the back. The certification must not be older than three months
• Qualifications and driver’s licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions
• Appointments will be made in terms of the Police Service Act as applicable to the post environment

• If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview as well as a practical assessment
• Reference checking will be conducted on all shortlisted applicants
• Shortlisted candidates for appointment to certain identified posts will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register will be disqualified from appointment to that post
• The Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013 requires that all new appointments in the South African Police Service as from 31 January 2015 provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample in order to determine their forensic DNA profile. The forensic DNA profile derived from the sample will be loaded to the Elimination Index of the National Forensic DNA Database
