FSD Africa (FSDA) is a new regional programme that promotes financial sector development across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Its goal is to create a transformative impact on the reduction of poverty by supporting efforts to improve financial inclusion and by helping financial institutions and markets to drive economic growth. FSDA has already started to build a dynamic, highly qualified and high performing leadership team, who will work together to bring about a real change in access to financial services for people living in poverty in SSA
The Director of Capital Markets Development (CMD) will report to the Director of FSDA who is currently heading up the new Growth and Investment Pillar. The post holder will assume responsibility for a broad ranging programme of technical support to develop SSA capital markets, inheriting some major programmes from the current portfolio but with ample opportunity to shape the future strategy of this division.
The successful candidate will likely bring technical strengths from a career in investment banking, corporate finance and/or development finance, good commercial judgment and a willingness to play a central role in making the strategic objectives of the unit become a reality. Top quality relationship management, well-honed representational skills and excellent project management abilities are prerequisites.
Regional scope: The whole of SSA but with initial emphasis on the EAC. The role requires fairly frequent travel within SSA, and occasionally further afield (e.g. London, other centres).
