The ANU School of Music has a proud and rich history. As part of the Research School of the Humanities and the Arts, within the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, the School of Music has played a leading role in the cultural life of Canberra and the region for nearly 50 years.
The School delivers a model of music education which best supports the vocational and professional needs of music students grounded in a vision of public service. At its heart, the school affirms an ideal of musical excellence that is ethnically informed, intellectually rigorous, outward looking, and receptive to new ideas.
The Head, School of Music will be responsible for the strategic leadership and ongoing sustainability of the School while harnessing opportunities to develop and articulate a clear vision for the future. This is an opportunity to shape the role in response to significant change that the school is undergoing.
Reporting to the Director, Research School of Humanities and the Arts, the Head will:
- Be a visible and engaging leader who is highly collaborative with outstanding interpersonal skills;
- Be experienced in driving change to meet challenging goals while demonstrating resilience and adaptability;
- Be able to build effective relationships across the University, and foster partnerships with diverse groups and individuals; and
Have a demonstrated ability to enhance and develop the School’s national and international reputation and performance in education.
