Early grade reading systems strengthening advisor

Chemonics seeks an early grade reading systems strengthening advisor for a USAID-funded education initiative in Liberia. READ Liberia! will be a 5-year early-grade reading activity that aims to improve early grade reading skills for Liberian students in grades one and two in the target counties. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
· Provide technical leadership and oversight of the delivery of EGR activities to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of products and activities generated under READ Liberia!
· Work with the education system to optimize the use of resources and materials for early-grade reading activities
· Support school and classroom management practices, including quality assurance, supportive supervision, and coaching
· Work with the Ministry of Education to analyze curriculum reform and material development efforts
· Work with the Ministry of Education to strengthen systems for early-grade reading
Qualifications:
· Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) or foreign equivalent in education, reading, literacy, linguistics or a related field
· Recognized expertise in early-grade reading systems strengthening approaches and activities
· Expertise in policy for early-grade reading reform is highly desirable
· Experience with the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA)
· Understanding of balanced literacy, early literacy competencies, and reading diagnostics
· Experience working in West Africa is highly desired
· Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
