Key Performance Areas
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer the Senior Internal Audit Officer shall provide support in conducting audit of the NPCA operations. The Senior Internal Audit Officer will support the process of putting in place functional and effective risk management systems and compliance modalities, including operational, financial and administrative internal controls.
Senior Internal Audit Officer will initiate, develop, implement, manage, and evaluate activities and supervise staff of the Division. He/she will also be responsible for the Division’s work plans and the production of performance reports. The incumbent will lead the Divisions’ contributions in the generation and application of new knowledge for continuous improvement. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the evaluation of the performance of Division-level staff.

He/she will also be responsible for the Division’s work plans and the production of performance reports. The incumbent will lead the Divisions’ contributions in the generation and application of new knowledge for continuous improvement. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the evaluation of the performance of Division-level staff.
Specifically, the incumbent will:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems and ascertain functional status.
- Review and evaluate NPCA systems to ensure reliability and integrity of record/reports to statutorily constituted sub-committees of AU Organs.
- Provide support in reviewing expenditure to ensure compliance with the AU financial rules, policies and procedures.
- Ensure the collection and record keeping of revenue and other receipts due to the NPCA and processing prompt banking of such revenue.
- Ensure NPCA physical assets, plant and equipment, supplies, are recorded, registered as well as kept in safe custody.
- Prepare audit reports on regular basis to the CEO and other constituted committees of the AU/NEPAD governance structures.
- Preparing quarterly and annual reports/work plans.
- Exercise a significant level of responsibility for the provision of accurate, professional and timely compliance and audit related services within NPCA.
- Provide expert advice, support and recommendations to management and staff on a range of complex compliance, audit and risk management matters, in accordance with established AUC policies and procedures, and professional standards
- Significantly contribute to the establishment, delivery and maintenance of an efficient and effective audit framework and related policies, practices and processes consistent with the AUC internal regulations and relevant professional standards.
- Undertake complex project work including initiating, planning, implementation and evaluation of compliance and risk management functions and processes to improve their efficiency.
- Coordinate and deliver presentations and workshops to management and employees on audit and risk management activities
Qualification and Experience: Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance or its equivalent. A professional qualification in the auditing will be an added advantage. Candidates must have six (6) to 8 (eight) years of progressive responsibility in the field of auditing, of which three (3) years should be at managerial or related level.
