Consulting & Sustainability & Climate Change – Senior Associate

PwC's Sustainability and Climate Change practice offers services to clients in the areas of climate change including climate policy, adaptation, international development / green growth, along with wider sustainability-related themes including reporting and assurance, corporate responsibility advisory, health, safety and environmental due diligence, sustainable finance, and responsible supply chain management.  
Due to continued strong demand for our analytical services including Total Impact Measurement & Management (TIMM), Climate Risk Analysis and services relating to Green Economic Growth, we are looking to further expand our team.
Our established team includes environmental, welfare and macro-economists, scientists, engineers, ecologists, GIS specialists, data analysts, corporate strategists and more – working with some of the world’s leading organisations towards an economy that works for everyone.
As part of our mission we contribute our methodologies and time to support major international collaborative efforts including the Natural Capital Protocol (launched July 2016), Social Value International and the Social Capital Protocol (forthcoming), and the Financial Stability Board’s Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
As we expand our team we are seeking candidates who are highly analytical and versatile with relevant professional experience.

About the role
As part of the role you will be expected to:
  • Apply your analytical skills and specialist knowledge in a range of client contexts from informing corporate strategy and advising on financial sector climate risks, to evaluating major public infrastructure projects
  • Contribute flexibly and effectively to complex, multi-disciplinary projects – potentially supporting several projects at a time
  • Contribute to the continued intellectual and practical development of our TIMM, climate risk and green growth methodologies, models and service offerings
  • Contribute to proposals and other business development activity
  • Work with clients in the UK and internationally
Essential Skills & Experience
Ideal candidates will have an MSc (or MPhil/PhD) in a relevant area of Economics (e.g. Environmental, Welfare, Development) in addition to an analytical undergraduate degree (e.g. economics, science, mathematics, engineering).
Other post graduate or professional qualifications will be considered but these will need to be supported by exceptional applied experience in line with the requirements below.
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Outstanding quantitative skills including the ability to develop complex quantitative models and interpret quantitative and statistical results
  • Practical experience managing large volumes of structured data using excel or other software
  • Experience using econometric and statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, MATLAB, SPSS)
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong personal initiative and resourcefulness combined with excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • A good understanding of the concepts of corporate sustainability and green and inclusive growth
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a consulting role (in-house or external)
  • Experience managing data integration work streams on significant analytical projects
  • Experience of measuring and valuing social, economic or environmental impacts
  • Experience analysing climate and environmental risks for the finance sector
  • Knowledge of Cost Benefit Analysis and Social Return On Investment approaches
  • Use of revealed preference, stated preference, subjective well-being and other primary valuation techniques
  • Knowledge of Input-Output modelling and the development and application of environmental or social extensions
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment methods and resources
  • Knowledge of public and proprietary environmental data inventories and corporate environmental data management systems
