The Department of Peace Operations of the Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) is looking for an intern!
The internship will take place in the framework of an Horizon2020 EU Commission project on Terrorist Networks and Organised Crime, ‘Project TAKEDOWN’ (http://takedownproject.eu).
The intern will assist in the following tasks & responsibilities:
- Explore the scientific literature, research studies, reports, data and indicators on organised crime and terrorist networks
- Analyse existing scientific models with an interdisciplinary approach
- Identify relevant stakeholders and collect key representatives for the empirical research and for the expert panel
- Screen current terrorist network response approaches, initiatives, strategies, and policies in Europe
- Map digital solutions and describe existing public security services like helplines, reporting platforms etc.
- Develop a multidimensional survey methodology & questionnaires
- Initialize expert interviews with researchers and context-aware policy makers at different levels on their requirements and obstacles
- Assist on conducting focus groups with practitioner-organizations
- Create a library of good and bad practices regarding public and professional solutions and services
- Support preparation of first-line-practitioner-toolkits
- Provide support to other projects and the general administration processes within PATRIR
- Possibility to participate to conferences and workshops around Europe according to the needs of the project (at intern's costs).
Profile of the candidate: Highly motivated with strong research skills
Good English-language writing skills
Interest or experience in policy analysis and development
Interest or experience in advocacy towards EU-institutions, member-states and ‘first responders’
Experience or background in the areas addressed (radicalisation, violent extremism, terrorism)
BA / preferably MA (International Relations, European Studies, European Law, Security Studies, EU Policy, or similar or equivalent research experience).

We cannot pay a salary but we encourage students to apply for funding at ERASMUS+
