It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC Somalia delegation in Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and motivated person to fill the position of:
CASH AND MARKET ASSISTANT – NAIROBI.
The Cash & Market Assistant is responsible for the technical part of all cash transfer projects conducted by the ICRC in Somalia. He/She advises his superiors about cash aspects of Economic security projects in Somalia.
Main Responsibilities:
· In information exchange with the field teams, he updates information on the economic security situation in Somalia, focusing on the aspects related to situations suitable for cash based interventions,
· Maintains adequate communication and coordination within economic security team and with other Assistance departments, as well as the Protection Department when required, when planning and conducting of needs assessments,
· Contributes to the set-up and conduct of needs assessments involving/focusing on cash aspects by using the standard economic security approach and internally established tools and procedures (e.g. identification of baseline data and SMART indicators, use of appropriate sampling approach),
· Formulates and adjusts project proposals for individual projects including SMART indicators, expected outputs/outcomes, plan of action (PoA) and project budget, based on the internally established tools and procedures,
· Conducts response analysis of different types of cash interventions (SWOT approach), associated risks and mitigation measures, including appropriateness and feasibility aspects and provides support to other involved staff when required,
· Conducts regular monitoring of the cash based interventions based on the internally established tools and procedures,
· Ensures support/coaching and supervision of the Economic security field officer’s involved in the monitoring of cash interventions,
· Interprets oral conversations accurately from English to Somali language and vice versa as required.
Minimum requirements.
University degree in Social Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Development Studies, Economics or other relevant discipline,
6 years’ work experience in food security programming,
3 years’ work experience in cash transfer programming,
Fluent in written and spoken English & Somali,
Team leadership skills,
Very good analytical skills,
Very good communication skills,
Good knowledge of geographically assigned areas & the Somali context.
