Gender and Youth Director, Liberia

Gender and Youth Director, Liberia
We are currently seeking a Gender and Youth Director for the anticipated USAID Office of Food for Peace funded Liberia Development Assistance (DFAP) Program. This multi-year, non-emergency program is integrated with USAID strategies to address the underlying causes of chronic food insecurity. The program’s ultimate goal is to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable households. The program focuses on strengthening livelihoods and improving nutrition among children under five, incorporating disaster risk reduction and response mechanisms and conflict sensitive approaches. The Gender and Youth Director will be responsible for:
Responsibilities:
  • Lead all youth and gender activities under the project contract and will closely collaborate with all other partners involved.
  • Advise the program in developing strategies and plans to improve the economic participation rate of youth and women and systemic changes within the labor force.
  • Strengthen service data/monitoring to ensure that youth and gender inequities are tracked and appropriate response strategies are implemented; organize/support regular monitoring among local districts, NGO/CBO partners, and service providers; analyze and report on program and project progress.
  • Ensure that youth and gender program components are results-oriented.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings on youth and gender topics for staff and beneficiaries.
  • Build Community-based Youth Leadership
  • Contribute in youth engagement in agriculture
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure gender and youth are integrated properly throughout the program areas and is in accordance with USAID’s youth and gender strategy.
  • Manage a team of field office based Gender and Youth Specialists.
Qualifications:
  • A university degree in sociology, economics, agriculture economics or a related field required
  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible work experience demonstrating experience conducting youth and gender analysis and gender integration programming, including with on-the-ground participatory approaches to research.
  • Experiencing managing teams of two (2) or more staff.
  • Understanding of USAID’s youth, gender, and value chain techniques and approaches
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects preferred.
  • Strong English language written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel in-country 50% of the time.
